I may just be giving away my age now, but one of my favorite movies when I was a kid was Kindergarten Cop. I loved this film, and I'm pretty sure I wore out the VHS tape because I watched it so often. Young people, VHS tapes were an old-fashioned version of DVDs or BluRays, but without all of the convenience. We had to rewind, or face the wrath or our local Blockbuster staff! Ah, the good old days!
Anyway, Kindergarten Cop is BACK, and taking on a new, more tech-savvy and politically correct generation of kids! A family favorite gets reimagined in Kindergarten Cop 2, a fish-out-of water comedy available on DVD and Digital HD as well as On Demand on May 17, 2016, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. Directed by Don Michael Paul (Jarhead 2: Field of Fire, Tremors 5: Bloodlines), Kindergarten Cop 2 stars action superstar Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables 3, Workaholics) and Bill Bellamy (White Collar, Royal Pains) along with an adorable ensemble of young actors and is bursting with laughs for the entire family. Assigned to recover sensitive stolen data, a gruff FBI agent (Dolph Lundgren) goes undercover as a kindergarten teacher, but the school’s liberal, politically correct environment is more than he bargained for. The Kindergarten Cop 2 DVD and Digital HD will delight longtime fans and new viewers alike with hilarious bonus features including deleted scenes, a gag reel and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film.
Anyone who knows me in real life, or even just on my personal Facebook, is well aware of the fact that I suffer from pretty bad anxiety. It's crippling, actually. I am a worrier by nature, and I will literally lose sleep worrying about some imagined worst-case scenario, even when I have no real reason to.
On top of being a worry-wort, I also have pretty extreme social anxiety. It makes it very hard to meet and connect with new people. This is hard on me, especially considering I work from home, homeschool the kids, and I don't really know many people here in the NE Ohio area. I'm not the outgoing type that can just walk up to a random person and start talking. Shoot, I can't even call and order a pizza, because talking to people I don't know causes me great anxiety. It's silly and I know it, but it's just reality for me. My anxiety also rears its ugly head even when dealing with people I know. I have a really difficult time picking up the phone and calling anyone, because I'm constantly worried about bothering anyone, or interrupting something important. That's likely the worrier in me coming out. I'm just keeping it real, folks. I'm not perfect. I have issues. My anxiety and everything surrounding it is probably my biggest downfall, as it literally affects every single aspect of my life. Today, for example, I had a complete and total breakdown. I was ugly-crying, with tears falling all over and snot dripping out of my nose. Granted, I had a good reason. Someone I love very much hurt me in the worst way imaginable. But still, I can't help but think my anxiety somehow even played into that. ***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my post. Woo-Hoo! School is officially out, and summer is HERE!
Summertime in NE Ohio is absolutely wonderful. We have gorgeous, temperate weather, and there's a lot to do around here. We will be heading to Cedar Point, to Lake Erie, and of course, we will be taking the kids to local parks and festivals, too. When we're not out and about, we will be spending tons of time in the yard, grilling, swimming, and just enjoying the beauty all around us. Lots of time outdoors is highlight of the season for us, but that also means we have to make sure the kids are protected from the sun. This means applying sunscreen, of course, but we also try and make sure the kids are protecting their eyes as well. This can sometimes be challenging. My kids, like many others, aren't always kind with their sunglasses. They get bent, twisted, and sometimes, they even get sat on. Thankfully, we discovered Real Kids Shades. They offer a wide variety of styles sure to please any kid, and they're incredibly DURABLE. ***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my post. This is not only because I usually score awesome deals on boneless skinless chicken breasts, but also because chicken is a very versatile ingredient that can be used in about 4,395,953 different ways. Okay, that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but you can use chicken in a myriad of ways.
One chicken dish my kids never seem to tire of is my Buttery Cracker "Fried" Chicken. This dish is easy as pie, too! It takes only a few ingredients, and produces some of the juiciest, most tender chicken you'll ever try. Say goodbye to boring, dry chicken breasts. Sink your teeth into tender, buttery goodness. The secret to the perfect, super-moist chicken in this dish? Rich & Creamy Melt Organic Buttery Spread! Rich & Creamy MELT is a luscious butter improvement – an Organic ‘Butter 2.0®‘ – that is a delicious alternative to butter. Rich & Creamy MELT Organic cooks, bakes and melts just like butter, but with half the saturated fat and fewer calories. ***Disclosure: As a Medifast®, Inc Blogger, I have received complimentary samples and information to facilitate my posts. I know, I know...This sounds absolutely absurd. Turkey doesn't ACTUALLY kill anyone, of course. However, I totally and positively despise the stuff. On Thanksgiving, we stop at a gas station on the way to dinner, and I get a sub or burger. Then I eat sides and a salad, but never, ever the turkey. I just don't care for the flavor of it for some reason. So of course, when I saw Turkey Meatball Marinara in my Medifast kit, my heart sank. Instead of chucking it out the window or feeding it to the dog, I put on my big girl panties and decided that if I'm going to do this, I have to be willing to try things I may not be too keen on. Even if it's the dreaded TURKEY. As a homeschooling family, we try to find learning opportunities in everything. Sure, the kids learn a lot through their school lessons, but we prefer to be a little more hands-on, encouraging learning even from everyday activities. We love seeing curiosity in the kiddos, and do everything we can to nourish their hunger for knowledge.
One thing the kids absolutely love to do to add to their learning is going to the zoo. They adore animals, and Xander even wants to be a vet when he grows up. He's really got a special way with anything furry! When we hit the zoo, one thing we always make sure to do is read all of the informational plaques and signs with facts about the various species. The kids are constantly amazed by how much they learn in just one outing! Right now, we found another fun way to encourage learning in a fun way. National Geographic Kids has teamed up with the folks at Crazy 8, one of my absolute FAVORITE kids' stores, to bring a great line of T-Shirts that not only look totally fab, but also might teach kids a thing or two about some of their favorite subjects. Sharks, Dinosaurs, the Moon, and even Spiders are featured in the Weird But True T-Shirt line, just to name a few. Each T-Shirt offers a fun graphic as well as a little known fact about the subject. For example, Gorillas burp when they're happy. Who knew?! ***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my review. He even makes whoosh noises as he races throughout the house doing whatever it is that the mighty Fast Bullet does best. Often, a wake of destruction is left in his path. But that's just.....Xander.
We decided to surprise our little hero with a great new toy that will allow him to have even more adventures. After all, every superhero needs a sidekick or 3. And I have to be honest....Sophie doesn't always want to play along. She will lock herself in her room to avoid Fast Bullet's antics. ***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my review. They have tons of video games, toys, and even a few favorite TV shows that they go absolutely bonkers over.
One of those programs is Yo-kai Watch. (You can tune in every weekday at 5:00PM on the DisneyXD Channel.) I have to admit, as a mom, I am not 100% certain what the show is all about. From what I can tell, it's pretty similar to Pokemon, but creatures/spirits are summoned by Nate's watch. These spirits are known as the Yo-kai, and not all of them are the most friendly of folks. The goal is to capture as many Yo-kai as possible. Pretty cool, and even though I don't have all the details down, my kids absolutely flip over this show! ***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my review.
