I Ate Turkey Meatballs and Did Not Die Plus A #Medifast Update #Sponsored

***Disclosure: As a Medifast®, Inc Blogger, I have received complimentary samples and information to facilitate my posts. All opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.***
I have an announcement to make: I ate turkey meatballs, and it did not kill me.

I know, I know...This sounds absolutely absurd. Turkey doesn't ACTUALLY kill anyone, of course. However, I totally and positively despise the stuff. On Thanksgiving, we stop at a gas station on the way to dinner, and I get a sub or burger. Then I eat sides and a salad, but never, ever the turkey. I just don't care for the flavor of it for some reason.

So of course, when I saw Turkey Meatball Marinara in my Medifast kit, my heart sank. Instead of chucking it out the window or feeding it to the dog, I put on my big girl panties and decided that if I'm going to do this, I have to be willing to try things I may not be too keen on. Even if it's the dreaded TURKEY.

Surprisingly, it was edible. If I didn't know the meatballs were made of turkey, I wouldn't have been able to guess that. Medifast did a great job as far as seasoning goes, so they tasted more like Italian Sausage to me. The marinara sauce was also very flavorful, and included mushrooms, onions, and plenty of spices. I ate it, and was not miserable. Extra brownie points to Medifast for making turkey tolerable!

Now let's talk about accountability, real life issues such as stress and PMS, and of course, results.

When I started my Medifast journey, I had very high hopes, and intended to stick to the plan, 100%.

Then life happened. I have to admit, there have been some not-so-great choices made in the past 3 weeks.

First, our basement main drain flooded, and we couldn't use much water for a couple of days. To avoid creating tons of dishes to wash, we ordered out. Twice. Pizza and that famous taco chain with the cute little doggie aren't the healthiest dinners. But at the time, it was better than creating a mountain of dishes that couldn't be washed to feed 5 people.

Then, to make matters worse, I experienced a double-whammy....Not only did PMS hit, which makes me ravenous, I also discovered that someone I considered a good friend stabbed me in the back in the most unthinkable of ways. This led to emotional eating, but I limited it ONLY to dinner time. Yes, I drowned myself in tears and cheesy pasta. I admit it. It felt good at the time, but I was upset with myself the next day for caving to my own hurt feelings.

For the most part, I have stayed on track. I've had to force myself to eat more often, which has taken some getting used to. Thankfully, the Medifast shakes, snacks, and bars have made this easy. I just grab a snack and go.

I usually don't like sweets at all. I don't go nuts for chocolate, I don't eat cakes or pies, and cookies are totally safe in my presence because I won't go near them. I just don't like foods that are sickeningly sweet. I never have. I know. I'm weird, haha.

Surprisingly, the Medifast bars have been more than tolerable to me. They are sweet, but not overly so. I don't feel like I'm chowing down on pure sugar, if that makes sense. They are also small enough that it doesn't feel like overkill. They're also low in fat and calories, but packed with protein, vitamins, and minerals. Definitely a better option than bingeing on fries or fast food by far.

Despite my very human slip-ups, I have done pretty well. Even with tons of stress, and a few cheats, I am making progress. Not too shabby at all! I am not really noticing any difference in my appearance yet, but my pants are just a wee bit looser. I'm sure once I get my butt in gear and add enough regular exercise to my daily routine, my results will be better.

Anyway, I just wanted to give a quick update, not only to share more about Medifast's products, but to hold myself completely accountable. I'm not perfect. I don't always make the best choices. But Medifast has been pretty forgiving so far, and it's easy to get back on track.

Stay tuned for more updates!
