Interview with The Hilarious @Aasif Mandvi #MillionDollarArmEvent

5/22/2014

***Disclosure: I received an all-expense paid trip to Hollywood to cover various Disney/ABC events. All opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.***

Okay, so I got to interview some amazing people during my recent trip to Hollywood. (I am STILL pinching myself, actually!) I fell in love with Madhur Mittal, since he looks SO much like my Bruno, I got to see Jon Hamm's eerily perfect hair in person, and I even got to meet and chat with the REAL people who inspired Disney's "Million Dollar Arm", J.B. Bernstein, Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel.

But it's my last interview for "Million Dollar Arm" that had me laughing the most. You just know you're in for a great time when Aasif Mandvi walks into a room. You know it's going to be an even better time when he refers to you as a "MILF-y Blogger." Come on now...We didn't have THAT good of a time, though I doubt too many of the ladies would have argued! It's not every day you're called a MILF by a movie star!

Anyway, you may know the super-talented and hilarious  Mr. Mandvi from "The Daily Show". He also plays Aash, J.B. Bernstein's best friend and business partner in "Million Dollar Arm".

My recent trip to Hollywood for the "Million Dollar Arm" premiere was absolutely amazing. I am STILL telling everyone all about the awesome things I got to do in just a few short days! I And I am telling them that they NEED to go see this inspirational movie. (Yes, I just said NEED, in capital letters. This film is just that good! And I am not even a die-hard baseball fan!)

During my stay in the beautiful city of Los Angeles, I was fortunate enough to get the chance to meet and interview the talent of this film. And I have to admit, I may have formed a wee little crush on Madhur Mittal. (You might know him from a little movie called "Slumdog Millionaire". ) What can I say? He reminds me a bit of my Bruno in appearance, and that just made my knees get all weak. What do you think? Do you see it, too?

Anyway, we got the opportunity to talk to the dreamy Madhur, as well as Suraj Sharma, known for his phenomenal performance in "Life of Pi". These guys play the key roles in "Million Dollar Arm", since they portray Dinesh Patel and Rinku Singh, the first winners of the Million Dollar Arm competition in India.
Picture
I think they both did an absolutely stellar job playing  these 2 kids with humble beginnings in rural villages in India. And I cannot imagine the roles would have been easy, either. They had to endure scorching heat while filming in their native country, as well as capture the transformation that Dinesh and Rinku experienced when they adapted to American life. In my opinion, playing characters that evolve so greatly had to be quite a challenge, and they did so flawlessly.

Recently, I was in beautiful Hollywood, California to attend the Million Dollar Arm World Premiere at the glorious El Capitan Theatre. The pre-party was tailgate style, and included food from Subway, Wonderful Pistachios, and the Hollywood legend, Pink's Hot Dogs, just to name a few. (You can check out my "Green Carpet" experience HERE.)

Once the festivities were winding down and the sun was setting on Hollywood Boulevard, it was time to make our way into the theatre to see the movie that the sports world has been buzzing about, "Million Dollar Arm". Imagine my excitement when I realized that not only did I have one of the best seats in the house, we were also seated among the actors who made this film so special. (Madhur Mittal who plays Dinesh Patel was a few seats away, and  the hilarious and talented Pitobash who portrays the quirky Indian baseball coach, Amit, was directly behind me.) It was unreal, and the whole theatre buzzed with excitement.

New #Maleficent Featurette and Clip!

Okay, so unless you've been residing on a desert island, you're probably aware that Disney will be releasing an EPIC film on May 30, 2014. And Angelina Jolie plays the most intimidating Disney villainess of all, THE Maleficent. (Did you just get the shivers? I sure did!)  I think that Angelina has a certain quality that makes her absolutely perfect for this role. She can be sweetness and light when she needs to be, but Angie's also got a dark side that she's pretty well-known for. I, for one, cannot WAIT to see her tackle this role!

"Maleficent" hits theaters on May 30, 2014. But I do have some brand new footage to show you. First, check out this "Light and Dark" featurette. Then, you can check out the "Finger Prick" clip right below it!

Interviewing the hottest celebrities is always a fun experience. During my recent trip to LA, I got to meet and chat with so many amazing stars. Meeting Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Hamm, Jason George, and so many other Hollywood stars was an unreal experience. I was pinching myself the whole time to make sure I wasn't dreaming!

However, if you asked me which of my recent interviews I am most excited about, chances are, you've never heard their names. Sadly, J.B. Bernstein, Rinku Singh, and Dinesh Patel aren't exactly household names. But they should be, since their story is among the most inspirational I have ever heard. These brave young men, along with their surrogate "dad" and sports agent, J.B. Bernstein, have accomplished something life-changing in so many ways, and somehow, their story had remained under the radar. Until now.

You see, Disney's new movie, "Million Dollar Arm" is based off of a true story. In this wonderful family film, J.B. Bernstein is an arrogant, struggling sports agent who is looking for a brand new idea to capitalize on. Something no one in the sports world had ever attempted. Something new and fresh, and most importantly, something that could rescue his failing agency, Seven Figure Management.

One day, J.B. got an idea. He would travel to India, where he would seek out some of the best Cricket "bowlers" and turn them into skilled American Baseball pitchers. J.B. Bernstein held auditions in several regions in India, attracting loads of hopefuls. (The winner would receive $100,000 American dollars, and the 2 top pitchers would travel to America to train for a real MLB try-out.) Oh, and I should mention, this had to happen in a 12 month period. That's right. He had ONE YEAR to take young men who have never held a baseball, and transform them into skilled pitchers.

Impossible? Well, you might think so. But J.B. Bernstein accomplished this and gained so much more than notoriety in the sports world. He also found the love of his life, learned about the importance of family, and even became a surrogate "Dad" to Rinku and Dinesh. So while he saved his failing business, he also became a better human being in the process.

Last week, we were blessed enough to chat with the REAL J.B. Bernstein, as well as Rinku and Dinesh. When they entered the room, there was so much excitement. The guys had the biggest smiles, and you could tell that J.B. was very proud of these young men. He had an almost fatherly air, and you could tell that these men have a very strong bond.

Interview: Jon Hamm on Disney's Million Dollar Arm #MILLIONDOLLARMEVENT

5/12/2014

Picture
When I was invited to LA to attend the World Premiere of Disney's "Million Dollar Arm", I was super-excited. You see, my Grandma is a die-hard baseball fan, and during baseball season, you can almost be certain she's either watching or listening to the game, and often cussing at the Cleveland Indians players. (It's really cute to watch my Grandma react to the games. Maybe I should get a YouTube video of it...Hmm...That's a whole different post entirely, though!)

Anyway, between my Grandma's baseball obsession and my dear friend, Patty's, Jon Hamm obsession, I was more than a little geared up for this trip. Especially when I learned more about the inspirational, real-life story that "Million Dollar Arm" is adapted to.

"Million Dollar Arm" follows the story of J.B. Bernstein (played by Jon Hamm), a struggling sports agent who is looking to introduce the next big thing to the world of sports. It took a bit of brainstorming, but Bernstein came up with an idea that had never been attempted before. He wanted to travel to India to find the next star pitcher for Major League Baseball.

There would be a country-wide competition to see who could throw the fastest and most accurate pitches. Keep in mind, the boys and young men in India had never heard of American baseball, let along thrown a ball. Most of the folks who tried out hadn't even been outside of their rural farming villages. The winner would receive $100,000 American dollars, and both the winner and runner up would travel to Los Angeles, California to train and hopefully attract the attention of Major League talent scouts....All within a 1 year time frame.

Impossible? Well, you'll just have to watch the movie to find out! Let me just say that while Mr. Bernstein was looking solely at the dollar signs, he ended up taking away so much more from this experience. In fact, he ended up a changed man altogether.

We got the chance to interview the ever-so-dreamy Jon Hamm and find out all about his take on this heartwarming story, his travels to India, and what it was like to play the real-life sports agent, J.B. Bernstein, of Seven Figures Management.

The first thing I noticed when Jon Hamm came into the Hollywood Hills Room in the fabulous Lowe's Hollywood Hotel was definitely his hair. This man has absolutely perfect, 100% flawless hair. Or a really great stylist. Probably both, actually. It literally took me a couple minutes to get over how amazing his hair was. (What can I say, I am definitely a lover of some nice hair!) The rest of him wasn't too bad, either. I could definitely see why my gal-pal, Patty, is so enamored of him. Plus, Mr. Hamm is a die-hard baseball fan himself, and roots for the St. Louis Cardinals, his home team. This makes his role as JB Bernstein all the more perfect!

I know, I know...I should stop my fan-girl rambling and share some of our exclusive interview with you all! To check out our exclusive interview, CLICK HERE.

My Million Dollar Arm Green Carpet Adventure #MillionDollarArmEvent

***Disclosure: I received an all-expense paid trip to Hollywood from Disney to facilitate my posts. All opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.***
Attending a Disney premiere is always exciting. The flashing lights, the celeb sightings, the glitz and glamour of the red carpet....Some of my best memories are from the Ah-MA-zing Iron Man 3 premiere last year at the fabulous El Capitan Theatre. (You can check out my post HERE if you missed it!)

So when I was blessed enough to be invited back to Hollywood for the Million Dollar Arm World Premiere, I was absolutely stoked. I think I may have done a happy dance. Okay. I totally did a happy dance. My teen rolled his eyes at me, and my littles laughed and pointed. Oh well. I didn't care. They can call me cheesy all they want. I was heading to HOLLYWOOD!

Anyway, this premiere was something a little different than your typical red carpet event. Rather than being a glam red carpet affair, it was a laid-back, casual tailgate party with a bright green carpet that resembled the well-kept grass on a major league baseball diamond!
