Sometimes, the best kind of date night involves a night spent at home. There are plenty of date night ideas that couples can take advantage of without leaving the house. Consider the following list of things you and your partner can do without leaving the house for your next weekend spent at home. Play Board GamesPlaying board games can be one of the best ways to pass the time while enjoying a sense of competition together. Consider traditional board games with various twists, such as drinking game variations or giving things a romantic slant. For those who enjoy group dates, you can also consider more advanced board games. Strategy games like the Rise of Tribes game will allow you to experience a more complex and lengthier board game campaign that could find one couple pitting against the other in a battle for victory. Create a Spa ExperienceYou can create a romantic and relaxing environment by emulating the appearance and feel of a luxurious spa within your own home. Acquire various spa products to help add to the ambiance, such as bath bombs, Epsom salts and scented candles. Clean out the areas you will be using the most such as the bathroom and bedroom. Dim the lights and accent the areas with candles that are strategically placed to give enough illumination to see while maintaining a calm and peaceful ambiance. Have lush and comfortable towels, robes and slippers prepared. You can also offer decadent beverages such as wine, champagne and sparkling mineral water. If a massage is on your list of things to do, consider skipping the alcoholic beverages and focusing on staying hydrated to get the most out of the experience. Cook Something NewClear out your kitchen and prepare to cook something new together. Acquire all of the necessary ingredients beforehand and make sure you have the cookbook ready and available. For those who want to mimic learning from a cooking class, you can look into various video cooking tutorials that are offered online and follow along. Make sure you have your dining area cleared out and set up for a romantic meal that you can enjoy together. Even if the meal doesn’t turn out as planned, you will get to experience the fun of trying something new together. Camp in Your BackyardFor those who have a backyard available, grab a tent and set up camp outside. If you have a safe and legal means of doing so, you can create a small campfire to help add to the experience. Camping in your backyard is a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors together without having to dedicate time or money to traveling further away. Aim to spend the majority of your time outdoors to emulate being at an actual campsite, including making all of your food outside and sleeping under the stars. There are plenty of outdoor games you can set up as well to help keep things exciting during the day. By using some of the ideas listed above, you can enjoy a date night with your partner without leaving the comfort of your own home.

I'm getting older, and those first signs of aging, like fine lines, are beginning to make themselves known. I can't afford to pull a Joan Rivers and get facelift after facelift, and I can't afford regular doses of Botox, either.
Thankfully, all is not lost. Thanks to Trophy Skin and their awesome, at home, professional grade skincare products like Rejuvaderm MD. This is a home Microdermabrasion System that is FDA Registered and easy to use from the comfort of your own home! This also saves a ton of cash, since those spa treatments add up quickly! ***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my post. We really don't have much family around to speak of, so we try and compensate by giving our kids the greatest childhood experiences ever. This means we're always on the go, and always looking for fun to be had and memories to be made.
One thing I absolutely love about living in NE Ohio is the fact that there's a ton of things to do for families. We have some amazing zoos, the Cleveland Metroparks and Cuyahoga Valley National Park, great museums and restaurants, the beautiful shores of Lake Erie, and of course, we have the coveted Cedar Point, America's Roller Coast. We have the new Gold Passes to Cedar Point, so we have been going a LOT lately. These passes are good for the rest of this year and all of the 2020 season, and we're definitely making sure we get our money's worth and enjoy these passes to the fullest. One dilemma I've found while visiting Cedar Point frequently is making sure I don't look like a wretched hag by the end of the visit. Between sweat, heat, water from various wet attractions, and just plain old fatigue, it's not always easy to look as good coming out of the park as I did going in. One area that always seems to suffer are my lashes. Usually, I'd skip my favorite falsies and use waterproof mascara, and hope for the best. I mean, while I LOVE the look of false lashes and wear them often, I have never been able to trust that the sheer force of the rides at Cedar Point wouldn't rip them right off. ***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my post. For Halloween this year, we're attending tons of different events, from local Halloween parties here in town, to trips to Cedar Point's Halloweekends. For practicality purposes, the kiddos are choosing costumes that are not only fun to look at, but also comfortable to function in. We'll be doing lots of walking, so they want costumes that will remain cozy and warm, no matter where our celebrations may take us.
This year, my soon to be 10 year old daughter, Sophie, will be going as a classic NES character: Link from the Legend of Zelda games! We grabbed this super plush, onesie style costume from one of my favorite retailers, TVStoreOnline.com. They have a fantastic selection of game, TV, and movie themed costumes, so we knew they'd have just the right pick for my little gamer girl. So Cute! and So Cool! Do you have any animal lovers in your home? Maybe a budding veterinarian?
My 8 year old, Xander, has pretty interesting career aspirations right now. He wants to be a rapper, but he also wants to be a pet doctor. So a rapping vet. Stranger things have happened, right? Anyway, Xander has always had quite a passion for animals, whether they're furry and cute, scaled, feathered, or even downright deadly. He loves all animals, and speaks to each and every one he encounters. Yes, he walks around saying hello to random birds and squirrels. It's actually pretty cute. Naturally, when we learned about the new So Cool! and So Cute! series from National Geographic Kids, we couldn't wait to check out the collection. These are books and plush toys that are perfect for kids aged 3-7-ish, give or take. (Xander is 8.) We received the shark and panda to check out for ourselves, and my little guy fell instantly in love with these books and toys. ***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my post. We love getting out and living our best lives, and our adventures take us to some pretty cool places from Cedar Point to the front row at Machine Gun Kelly shows to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and even to bona-fide, haunted prisons.
Yes, I just said haunted prisons. As we officially approach Spooky Season, we decided to take the kids somewhere not only historically valuable, but also terrifying. Yep. We headed to the Ohio State Reformatory, which you may have seen on shows like Ghost Adventures, or even in films like Air Force One and more famously, The Shawshank Redemption. Having been there a few times sans kiddos, I already know how physically demanding this behemoth of a building can be. There are about 3,583,569 stairs to navigate, which amounts to a lot of walking and climbing. While they do offer some picnic tables outside for a bite to eat, you can't really stay fueled inside the prison walls. That's where Huel...Yes, I said Huel... saves the day and keeps us going no matter how strenuous our adventures may become! Huel is kind of like Human Fuel. It's a 400 calorie meal in a bottle or cup that is 100% vegan and provides the perfect nutrition to keep your proverbial motor running and running well. Human fuel. Get it? Okay, I thought it was clever. |
