I think it is in the genes. My Dad is a rock-star here in the Cleveland area. His band, The Toyz, play all over the area to packed venues several times a week. Dad sings, plays guitar, and plays the keyboards. And they play everything from classic rock to country to pop to hard rock...It's always a great time!
My dad has been in bands pretty much my whole life, so I grew up loving music of all kinds. I remember going to band practice with him and singing along to the practice tapes in the car. I have also performed quite a bit, myself. I used to sing a lot, and have won awards. I can also play guitar and piano, although probably not as well as I used to! My husband is also a music lover. He plays bass, but cannot sing to save his life. Yep...He is tone-deaf. (Hopefully that predisposition skips over the kiddos!) So it came as no surprise that my children are also very passionate about music. When I was pregnant with my Sophie, she would literally "dance" in my belly any time The Beatles came on. And it was ONLY for The Beatles, so definitely not a fluke! This prompted me to immediately purchase an entire line of nursery gear that featured the artwork of John Lennon. Her mobile even played "Imagine." My kids, Sophie especially, really have a great love for music, even now. They like all kinds, and love to sing and dance. So when I discovered the great CD set, Jazz for Babies, I knew I just had to have it! Happy Halloween, everyone! Are you all ready to put on those spooky costumes and go trick-or-treating? We had our trick-or-treating on Saturday, so today is a day of rest for us... But I will be making some spooky snacks and watching scary movies today. For some great Halloween activities you can do with your kids, simply click the banner below! You'll find some great things to do, like take a Monsters University Quiz, or even whip up a Halloween feast courtesy of Mike, Sully, and the boys from Oozma Kappa! Most of our family and friends don't have extra highchairs laying around, and let's face it: Highchairs don't fit very well into most vehicle trunks, especially when you'd need 2 of them! So trying to get my kids to sit nicely at the table while eating can be a job in itself. They always want to run around and share in the festivities, and this sometimes means that chocolate, sweet potatoes, or even cranberry sauce end up smeared where they shouldn't be....That means a HUGE case of Mommy Guilt, because I always feel awful if my littles make a mess in someone else's home. Luckily, this year we won't have to worry. I have discovered the ultimate portable high chair solution, and I can fit it into my purse. Oh, did I mention it's washable, too? So what is this great product that will take the insanity out of Holiday gatherings with little ones? The Svan Totseat! If you're familiar with Svan, you know that they are world renowned for their innovative, sleek and modern European designs. (I just love the look of their Signet Complete High Chair....Drools....) The Totseat is the original portable, washable, and “squashable” seat. Made of fabric, The Totseat is designed to safely attach to all types of chairs. Adult chairs can be quickly transformed into the perfect seat for a baby or toddler. Available in 6 colors with a variety of patterns, The Totseat eliminates the need to hunt down a highchair when traveling. The Totseat is ready to go in its own carry pouch which fits neatly into your diaper bag, purse or other carry bag.

After all, when people celebrate, they eat. And eat. And eat some more. Pumpkin pie, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, chocolate goodies, mac and cheese....the list goes on and on! Someone usually ends up asleep on the couch with their pants unbuttoned. (Usually the man of the house, at least in my experience!)
One way to help keep those extra pounds from creeping on this winter is by having a good workout routine, and actually DOING it a few times a week or even daily.
