This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Republic Wireless. All opinions are 100% mine. I cannot believe my little baby is a teenager! I remember him being a cute little blonde-haired baby just like it was yesterday. Now, Kyle is 13, and just started 8th grade. He no longer has those silky, curly blonde locks and he is actually taller than I am. Time sure does fly, and kids grow up way too fast. I remember being a teen with a very busy schedule myself, so I can understand his desire to have a SmartPhone. There will be tons of activities he will be participating in, and he also likes spending time with his friends. Of course I am one of those Moms that always has to know where my kids are and what they're doing. If he says he will be at a friend's house, I talk to the parents first. (Which I am sure he hates me for, but it definitely keeps him out of trouble!) But sometimes, Kyle and his friends go to the park. Without a cell phone, he cannot call and keep me updated on what they're doing or contact me should an emergency arise. So while I said I wouldn't do it, I am really considering getting him a SmartPhone. The problem is, these can be incredibly expensive, and I don't want to rack up hundreds of dollars of cell phone bills every month. Thankfully, Republic Wireless has super affordable plan that offers unlimited service for only $19 a month! Here are some details for you about this great offer: The Motorola DEFY™ XT Smartphone: What do you get from your $19/month? All the talking, texting and surfing you can handle. And you get those things without a contract, without limits and without overages. Now that’s a smartphone plan that’s just smart!
Do your kids have cell phones? How old were they when they got their own phone? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
***Disclosure: I received a complimentary book in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.*** ![]() I have to admit, I have a pretty great marriage. I have known my husband since I was 13, and he and I just always seemed to "get" each other. We have one of those marriages where we can finish each others' sentences, and we can just look at each other and know exactly what the other person is thinking. Dan treats me like a princess, and he is also an amazing father to our children. No matter how exhausted he may be when he gets home from work, he always finds the time and energy to truly be present and involved. (Even when it means our toddlers jumping on him, over and over and over again.) I really couldn't ask for a better man, and I know how incredibly blessed I am to have him. However, as many of you with multiple children know, it's easy to let life in general take over...Are the kids fed? Dishes done? Did something break that needs repairing? Is the homework done? Baths given? Bills paid? Okay, you get the point. The hustle and bustle of life's responsibilities can cause couples to get overwhelmed to the point that their marriage takes a back-burner to everything else. While this has happened to us before, thankfully it wasn't for very long and our relationship didn't suffer. Still, I am always up for ways to strengthen and preserve my marriage, so when I got the opportunity to review the book "The 50 Fridays Marriage Challenge", I hopped right on board. This book is faith-based, and offers one question a week for 50 weeks. Each question has a short chapter, an encouraging quote, and a scripture verse. (Now I am a Christian, but my husband is not...This book still works for both of us, and he doesn't feel like he's "going to church".) These questions and activities are designed to encourage open and honest communication, build intimacy, and increase understanding. There are also bonus chapters for holidays like Valentine's Day! So far, we are really enjoying this challenge. It is very simple to do, and if followed properly, will definitely provide growth as a couple. All that is required is an open mind, as well as a commitment to communicate openly and honestly. So if you've drifted from your partner emotionally or physically, feel misunderstood or unheard, or you've got a great marriage and would just like to keep it that way, I would definitely recommend you check out the book and take the 50 Fridays Challenge for yourself! ***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my review. I always wonder how some bloggers seem to get amazing, professional quality images and film. Turns out, they all have DSLR cameras. Yes, they're pricey, but they're apparently worth their weight in gold. I plan on buying one of my own soon, so I wanted to learn all about the tips and tricks for getting the best results possible. Thankfully, there is a great book that serves as a tutorial for beginners like me, and also offers great tricks for seasoned pros. With digital SLR cameras becoming more and more popular as replacements for standalone video cameras, this book helps photographers become better videographers and shows videographers how to incorporate DSLRs into their work. The book includes an overview of the DSLR video tools and process and shows how to establish camera settings for effective capture, light a scene, get sound, and achieve the film look. The book also offers the basics on editing footage into a final product using common video editing tools. Digital SLR Video and Filmmaking for Dummies is designed to help photographers ramp up their video skills, videographers add DSLRs to their toolkits, and amateurs begin shooting their own short films and videos.
I cannot wait till I finally have a Digital SLR camera. I will definitely be using the advice given in this book to make plenty of video reviews! Or Holiday videos...Or family movies...The possibilities are truly endless! I would definitely recommend Digital SLR Video and Filmmaking for Dummies to anyone who wants to learn how to make their videos the best that they can possibly be! ***Disclosure: The information and prize pack have been provided by Old El Paso through MyBlogSpark. All opinions are 100% my own.*** ![]() We absolutely love Mexican food here. It seems I am making tacos, enchiladas, burritos, or quesadillas at least twice a week. I would have to say, my kids definitely have a favorite: Tacos! They're easy to make, fun to eat, and even my toddlers can help assemble them. One of the best things about tacos is the fact that they're incredibly versatile. How can you get sick of them when you can change them up just by adding different fillings and toppings? Some of our favorites, other than traditional ground beef, are chicken and lime, black bean tacos, steak tacos, and delicious shredded pork. I have even made breakfast tacos with eggs and Chorizo, as well as vegetarian tacos using eggplant, field greens, and tons of veggie toppings. Well Old El Paso offers a ton of great products that make taco night easier than ever. From sauces and salsas to tortillas and seasoning mixes, to refried beans and dinner kits, Taco Night can be every night, if you so desire! ***Disclosure:I am a paid Excedrin® Migraine blog ambassador. Compensation has been provided by Novartis Consumer Health, Inc., the makers of Excedrin® Migraine; my journey for a migraine-free experience is my own.*** My 13 year old son just started 8th grade a few days ago. Wow, I cannot believe how quickly the summer flew by! Like many parents, I am always excited about the start of a new school year. But at the same time, this comes along with plenty of stress. There's back to school shopping, doctor's visits, mountains of paperwork, and adjusting to a brand new schedule. I personally get stress-induced migraines, so that's the one part of back to school that I don't enjoy. My migraines will have me totally incapacitated, curled up in a fetal position in the dark, often in tears from the pain.
Apparently, I am not alone! A recent study conducted by Novartis, the makers of Excedrin, shows some interesting facts regarding migraines during back to school season: -69% of parents of school aged children are excited about back to school season. However, a whopping 44% of parents expect to get headaches during this time. -One of the biggest migraine triggers is the stress of getting parents and kids back on a school-year schedule. -35% of parents think that shopping for school supplies might give them a headache. (Can't say I blame them! Wading through the hoards of shoppers in the stores can be very stressful!) So along with paper, pens, and crayons, parents should add some Excedrin to their shopping list! -85% of parents believe their child's school is in need of supplies and upgraded technology. Luckily, with every Excedrin purchase, parents can enter to win $10,000 for their child's school! I have LOADS of winners to announce! I have notified all by e-mail, and winners will have 48 hours to claim their prizes. Thanks so much to everyone who entered, and check back often for more great giveaways!

Kyle, my 13 year old, just started 8th grade this past Monday, and we're getting back into a normal routine. No more visits to the water parks, most of the riverfront festivals are just a memory, and pretty soon, it will get chilly here in Ohio. Wait. Who am I kidding. Chilly? No. Let's just say it gets bone-chillingly frigid! But we do have plenty of nice weather in the autumn months, particularly during the day time. And my toddlers aren't ready to give up their favorite summer activities just yet. Since we have a great sandbox, I decided it was fitting to break out some awesome sand toys from HABA and let Sophie and Xander bake me a cake, as fast as they can. ***Disclosure: I received complimentary products to facilitate my review. But if you're anything like me, you do Holiday shopping all throughout the year to save money and time when the shopping rush begins after Thanksgiving. I already have quite the "stash" of presents, and it's growing by the day. (Hopefully the kids don't find it! I'd have a lot of explaining to do!) Well, one of my favorite children's manufacturers, HABA, has just released several great toys that are sure to make little eyes light up with delight this Holiday season. If you're not familiar with HABA, allow me to tell you a little bit about this wonderful company! |
