***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my review. All opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.*** My little ones are VERY into anything action-packed and game-related. They have tons of video games, toys, and even a few favorite TV shows that they go absolutely bonkers over. One of those programs is Yo-kai Watch. (You can tune in every weekday at 5:00PM on the DisneyXD Channel.) I have to admit, as a mom, I am not 100% certain what the show is all about. From what I can tell, it's pretty similar to Pokemon, but creatures/spirits are summoned by Nate's watch. These spirits are known as the Yo-kai, and not all of them are the most friendly of folks. The goal is to capture as many Yo-kai as possible. Pretty cool, and even though I don't have all the details down, my kids absolutely flip over this show! Recently, Hasbro introduced an exciting line of Yo-kai Watch products sure to bring smiles to the faces of any fans out there. We received a couple of these to check out for ourselves. The kids were absolutely giddy, I might add. The first product I'd like to share is the Yo-kai Watch Season 1 Watch. This watch comes with the watch, 2 medals, and instructions. If you'd like to purchase more medals, they are available at Hasbro.com as well as at many retailers. There's also a free app that helps bring this toy to life. There are three ways to play with every Yo-kai Medal: 1. Imagine summoning Yo-kai by inserting the medal into the Yo-kai watch toy to hear the character's name, tribe song, and other sounds. (Watch and medals each sold separately, subject to availability.) 2. Discover the wacky world of the Yo-kai by scanning the Medal with the Yo-kai Land app. 3. Collect Yo-kai Medals and store them in the Yo-kai Medallium Collection Book (book and medals each sold separately, subject to availability). My kiddos absolutely adore this toy. They love inserting the various medals and hearing the Yo-kai names, summoning sounds, and tribal chants. The medals are fairly easy to insert, although removing them can be a little tricky at times. The downsides? Well, the watch is very large and kind of heavy. My kids are 5 and 6, and the watch is really bulky for them to wear for long periods of time. They don't seem to mind this, but I thought I should point it out. Also, this toy can be pretty loud, and there's not an on/off switch or volume control. Again, the kids don't mind one bit. As a parent, though, keep this in mind. You WILL hear TONS of sounds, at a very loud volume. We have found a compromise that makes everyone happy, though. The kids play with this in their rooms or outside. It's not allowed in Mommy's "office" at all. Overall, this is a really cool toy that definitely helps bring one of my kids' favorite shows to life. We also received the awesome The Game of Life Yo-kai Watch Edition. Introducing The Game of Life: Yo-kai Watch edition game in which players choose to play as Nate, Katie, Bear, or Eddie, and then set off on exciting adventures! Players explore the city and discover Yo-kai in all different places — on the beach, at the school, the forest, and at the park. The game spinner might send a player in an unexpected direction, but they can also use their Watch Detection Power cards to capture more Yo-kai! The first player to return home with 3 Yo-kai game medals wins! The game features 2 exclusive Yo-kai Medals (not part of the gameplay.) For 2 to 4 players. This game includes: game board, spinner with base, 4 character tokens, 38 cards (4 watch, 4 character, 4 bonus and 26 event cards), 16 Yo-kai board game medals, 8 Spin to Win tokens, game guide and 2 exclusive Yo-kai Medals (not part of gameplay) My family has really had a lot of fun playing this game. It follows the show pretty closely, so kids who are familiar with Yo-kai Watch can jump right into the game. Sophie has to help Xander read the cards, since he's not at her skill level yet, but they don't mind helping each other out. This game is the most fun when you have 4 players, but even 2 or 3 makes for a good time. If you have Yo-kai Watch fans who also enjoy some friendly, family gaming, I would definitely recommend picking up this game. Even my teen likes it, and he has no idea what Yo-kai Watch even IS. That's saying a lot! Connect with Hasbro:
