Happy Father's Day, everyone! I hope that all of the Dads out there have an amazing day, get to sleep in, and get better presents than a tacky tie or a Cosby sweater!
Sadly, my own husband has to work today. (Boo!) But once he gets home, we will be heading over to my Dad's house for a cookout. This should be a great time, since the kids love seeing them, and who doesn't love some yummy burgers and hot dogs?!
Anyway, a big thanks to all the amazing Dads out there! Hope you enjoy your day!
My Dad is a rockstar...No, really...He is...He is a member of the Ohio band, The Noizy Toyz. They play all over the place, and honestly, they're amazing. My Dad is great. Keyboards. Vocals. Guitar...He can do it all. Some of my earliest memories are of his band practices, and listening to the band practice cassette tapes in the car. (Did I just date myself here? oops...Yes. I had cassette tapes. I am positively prehistoric. ) Anyway...My love for music of all genres surely comes from HIM. And I am grateful.
The really amazing part? He didn't HAVE to love me....You see, biologically, I am not his child. My own "father", and we will use that term loosely, was not present. My DAD stepped in when I was a mere infant. Not "his" child. But he loved me anyway...Raised me anyway...I was HIS daughter. I still am.
Was my childhood perfect? No. It was actually a bit of a nightmare. My parents made mistakes...Now that I am a parent, too, I can understand and forgive that....I married way too young to a man who abused me....It's okay...My current husband treats me like gold, and I have 3 amazing kids who will NEVER have to deal with the things that I did....Never. I am breaking the cycle of addiction. Period. I am happy. My kids are happy. And I will make DAMN sure they always will be.
The fact is, my life has not been easy...I am not close to my mother. For awhile, I wasn't close to my Dad, either. I have never really felt loved, nor have I felt that I really even had parents. This was hard. This caused me to make awful decisions in my youth that impacted the remainder of my life.
I thank God every day that I made the decision to move back "home" to Ohio. This reminded me of what family really is. I am ashamed to say this, but I didn't speak to my Dad for almost 20 years. (I know...We all screw up, and my mind was somewhat poisoned as a kid. I am trying to make up for that now.)
I have something very special...Amazing...Wonderful...Unbelievable to share.
You see, my Dad is in a band. (Like I said....) Tonight, we went to see them play. We do this whenever they're local enough to do so. There is a particular song..."Perfect" by Pink...I have always related to this song. The video especially. This song IS my life.
Tonight...Tonight...My Dad publicly dedicated it to ME. He told me loved me....That he's proud of me...Not to listen to the "voices". He did this during a show, and it meant EVERYTHING to me. FOr the first time ever, I felt loved...validated...special...from a parent. I hugged him. I cried. I danced. I sang along. And then I had to leave, since the tears wouldn't stop....
I love you, Dad. THANK YOU. Thank you for being the Dad you didn't HAVE to be. Thank you for caring. For loving your grandkids. For everything. I am touched...I am humbled...And I am grateful. I finally have parents. I love you, Dad and Missy, the best step-mom ever!
Happy Father's Day to everyone. Please tell your dads how much you love them! I know I love mine!!!

I know...You all are probably sick of hearing just how excited I am about Disney's upcoming movie, PLANES. But in my household, this is truly a big deal! My entire family is gearing up for this film, which is sure to be a huge blockbuster.
You see, my toddlers are obsessed with anything that involves a mode of transportation. They watch Disney CARS all the time, and of course, they love those kids' choo-choo-train shows on TV. So when they saw some of the trailers for PLANES, they both flipped! My son, Xander, even wants Dusty pajamas. Which I have not been able to find anywhere just yet.
My husband has been the greatest Daddy ever, and has been playing "Planes" with the kids, making them soar into the air. It's very cute, since he even mimics the sound of airplane engines.
So in the spirit of Father's Day, I have a fun e-card and some great printable activities to share featuring the whimsical characters from PLANES! My husband and kids will surely be completing these over the weekend!
To download the printable activities, just click the image below to download the .pdf file! Then print. Easy, peasy!
Woo-Hoo! Who is ready to rush to theaters to see the action packed film, The Lone Ranger, featuring the amazing Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer? I know we are! My husband is especially excited about this movie, since it's sure to have plenty of action, old west style! The Lone Ranger rides onto the big screen on July 3, 2013, so mark your calendars, folks!
I have a very special on set feature to share with you in the meantime. This offers an exclusive look behind the scenes on set, and even has a great interview with the Lone Ranger himself, Armie Hammer! How cool is that?!
So grab yourself some Texas Tea, sit for a spell, and check out this awesome on-set video, "Cowboy Bootcamp"!
I cannot dance. Like, at all. Some people have two left feet, as the saying goes, and that definitely applies to me. I have never been one to shake my booty on the dance floor, because I would probably trip and fall, knocking everyone over in some odd, domino effect. How mortifying would that be?! I can picture it now, and folks, it's not pretty.
In fact, the only time I have ever "danced", and I will use that term very, very loosely was when I was either at the pub and had a couple drinks to loosen up, or when I had to, like at weddings. Otherwise, if there is a dance floor in sight, I will be the quiet girl shyly hiding in the corner. Yep. That one. The one hiding awkwardly, wishing a hole would open up in the floor and swallow her.
It seems that a lot of my friends have taken up the dance phenomenon/workout known as Zumba. Not a day goes by that I don't see numerous status updates talking about how they rocked it at their Zumba classes. I have to admit, it makes me a bit jealous, and I am in total awe of them. I would love, love, LOVE to hop on board the Zumba train, but I am afraid that I would be thrown out for getting it all horribly wrong. Or worse, everyone would laugh at me.
So I will sit back and enjoy their accomplishments, and curse my two left feet. And I will secretly be wishing I could do moves like in this video...In the dance number, a woman's routine yoga workout in a crowded city park is transformed into a liberating, magical dance number in luxurious rainforest after taking a sip of resource Natural Spring Water.
"Electrobatique--An Enchanting Discovery," is an original dance performance featuring tons of fun water effects, aerial choreography and acrobatic dance by AiRealistic, an aerial theater company with roots in Cirque du Soleil and Le Reve. There are moves you'll never see me doing!

I have to admit, while I am not a daily tea drinker, I do enjoy the occasional cup of hot tea. I usually gravitate towards fruity blends, and I love green tea for it's health benefits. (Some studies have shown it is good for energy and weight loss.)
Green tea has been around since ancient times, 5000 years to be exact! While it's origins come from China and Japan, this tea has become increasingly popular here in the United States. It is a true tea, which is minimally oxidized during processing. It's also a very mild-flavored tea, so it blends well with a wide variety of flavor profiles like fruits, flowers, and herbs.
Recently, I got the opportunity to sample some of the organic green tea from Tea District. I chose the Organic Wildberry Green Tea because it sounded simply heavenly! Tea District carries several varieties of green tea blends, both loose as well as bagged.
In addition to green teas, Tea District carries many other teas, such as black, Yerba Mate, Herbal teas, Rooibos, and many other specialty blends. There really is something for everyone!

Many of us, myself included, equate food with happy memories. Whether it be my Grandma's delicious chicken burgers or lasagna, the 5 star food at that fancy restaurant my husband took me to to surprise me, or even comfort foods like homemade mac and cheese, food plays a major part in our lives.
With both Father's Day and the 4th of July right around the corner, many of us are scrambling to find yummy snacks and gifts to give. After all, celebrating with family and friends is such a blessing, and deserves something extra special....That's where the gourmet popcorn from G.H. Cretors come in.
You see, G.H. Cretors offers more than just run of the mill popcorn. This great company specializes in giving you a flavor experience rather than just a snack. With some very inventive flavors like Chicago Mix (Caramel corn and cheesy popcorn, all in the same bag!), or Caramel Nut Crunch, popcorn is transformed from ordinary to simply extraordinary!
