I suffer from heartburn and upset stomach quite often, so I try my best to avoid food and drink that tend to be triggers for digestive discomfort. Unless, of course, it's around the Holidays. During the Holiday season, all caution goes out the window. After all, I like to celebrate with everyone else, and I certainly like to indulge on occasion. This Christmas, we spent the day with my Grandma. She is a feisty, wonderful Hungarian woman, and she always makes sure anyone who enters her home is well fed, to say the least. When we arrived, she had a HUGE array of food just begging to be eaten. There was her famous Buttery Cracker Chicken, Kielbasa and Kraut, biscuits, mashed potatoes, corn, and of course, loads of desserts. She had made some Buckeye Balls, a cake, and even chocolate covered pretzels. Oh, and with cake, there has to be ice cream, too, of course! We had a wonderful time spending time with my Grandparents in their home near Lake Erie, and of course, we all stuffed our faces with all of the amazing food that was served. Seriously, I am still drooling thinking about the Kielbasa. My Grandma gets these sausages at Rudy's, a Cleveland butcher's shop, and they are unlike anything you could ever hope to find at the grocery store. They are like cylindrical pieces of Heaven, right on your plate. I'm about to have a foodgasm just thinking about them! After we were all full, we spent time being goofy with the Grandparents. My Grandma was always the "Fun Grandma" when I was growing up. While many years have passed, this hasn't changed. She had a blast chasing the kids around, and she even gave Xander a "bubble hat" using soap suds from the sink. How cute are they?! Anyway, as expected, Heaven on a Plate comes with a price. Shortly after I ate, I started feeling that familiar churning and burning. Yep, I had definitely caused something chaotic to start brewing in my belly. Thankfully, I had come prepared. Hidden in the depths of my purse, I had some blessed, pink relief. Yep! That's right! Pepto-Bismol saved the day!
Pepto-Bismol is available in trusty liquid form, and also comes in chewable tablets. I love their Pepto-Bismol To-Go, since these chewable tablets come in a handy, portable container that fits easily into your pocket, purse, or glove compartment. Relief is ready whenever and wherever you need it the most. Not familiar with Pepto-Bismol? No worries! I'd be happy to tell you all about it! Pepto-Bismol is made with Bismuth Subsalicylate. (Don't worry, I can't pronounce that, either!) This ingredient provides gentle, effective relief for the following symptoms commonly associated with over-indulgence:
