***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my review. As always, all opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.*** My family is always on the go. Now that school is in session, we're busier than ever! Kyle, my 15 year old, goes to our local high school. Sophie, my 5 year old, is being home-schooled this year. Since most of her learning is done at home, we try and get her out of the house and exploring the world as much as possible. After all, hands on learning is a favorite among children. When kids are having fun, they get excited about learning. It's a win-win situation. One way we're incorporating learning into our everyday lives is through a membership to the Akron Zoo, here in NE Ohio. This is a smaller, local zoo, and they offer a lot of fun activities for kids of all ages. They even have special events specifically for children who are home-schooled. Pretty awesome, right? Since the Akron Zoo is just a few minutes away from our house, we try and visit regularly. We headed back to our favorite zoo a few days ago, but this time it was extra special for the kids. They were able to capture their memories using their VTech Kidizoom Action Cam! This is a lot like the much loved GoPro, but designed specifically for children between the ages of about 4-9. The Kidizoom Action Cam comes equipped with everything your child needs to record their latest adventures. Whether they're riding their bikes, skate-boarding, or even swimming, the Kidizoom Action Cam can capture amazing photos and videos as the action happens. The Kidizoom Action Cam comes with 2 mounts so the camera can be attached to bikes, skateboards, and more. There's even a waterproof cover that allows this camera to be submerged in up to 6 feet of water. How cool is that?! You can also get a nifty Kidizoom Action Cam carrying case, which is sold separately. The Action Cam features a 1.4" color LCD screen and can take videos and photos in addition to stop-motion videos and time-lapse photos. Your child can also explore their creativity with fun effects, frames and photo filters. They can download their photos and videos to a computer using the included micro USB cable and share them with family and friends. For even more fun, they can also play three exciting learning games. Sophie was so excited to be able to take photos and videos to chronicle her latest visit to the zoo. Here she is snapping some photos of the gorgeous Snow Leopards. The photo below is an actual photo taken with the Action Cam. I have to admit, we were very pleasantly surprised by how well these pictures turned out and by the wonderful image quality! And here's another Action Cam photo of another majestic big cat. Seriously, I am absolutely floored by how well these photos came out. They do not look like the photos I am used to seeing from children's toy cameras. Of course we couldn't leave the zoo without stopping by to say hello to the King of the Jungle, the mighty, mighty lion! We were lucky, and the male lion was very active. The zoo keepers said that every afternoon around 4:30PM, the lion paces back and forth, right by the glass. He knows feeding time is near, and he's clearly impatient while he waits! Sophie was able to get some amazing photos of the lion, and even a cool video. Check out the lion in all his glory, courtesy of the Kidizoom Action Cam. Check out the size of this beautiful cat! He was absolutely huge, with paws the size of a small child's head. I've never been so thankful for a thick pane of glass before in my life. This lion was fierce, and he looked super-duper hungry! Animals weren't Sophie's only models, though. We couldn't leave the zoo without some family photos! Here Sophie is taking a picture of her Daddy and little brother near a sculpture of River Otters. The Kidizoom Action Cam is very easy to use, even for younger children like my Sophie. You can take a photo or even video with the simple click of a button. There aren't tons of confusing controls, and everything is completely user-friendly. You can even choose to add fun frames, filters, and effects! Check out Sophie's picture of a couple of her favorite people. Yes, this is a weird angle....But Sophie's only 5, so she had to shoot upward to capture this image of Daddy and Xander. Pretty good job, if I do say so myself! Overall, we're definitely loving our VTech Kidizoom Action Cam. This little camera is perfect for active kids, and is small enough to fit into any bag or even your pocket! The kids love being able to record their memories in real time, and they have loads of fun playing with the different effects that they can add. As a mom, I love the fact that the Action Cam is durable enough to withstand the use and abuse of active kids like mine. Oh, and the quality of the photos and videos is quite impressive, too! If you're looking for the perfect gift for your budding photographers and videographers, definitely check out what the Kidizoom Action Cam has to offer. I think you'll be as delighted as we are!
