Recently, the kids decided to make a quick and easy lunch using recipes from this awesome cookbook. They played it pretty safe, and chose classic Grilled Cheese sandwiches and a "Banana Breakfast Potion", since sometimes magic is needed in the afternoon as well.
Hey, I don't make the rules, and rules are made to be broken.
This book is great, as it has wonderful photos and simple, easy to understand instructions. Each recipe is well thought out, kid-friendly, and sure to help kids forge a love for all things culinary. I love that there are helpful tips included in these recipes, such as using a lid if your cheese isn't melting quickly enough. This helps kids avoid common cooking mistakes and helps to build confidence in the kitchen!

My kiddos are 10 and 11, and are pretty comfortable making easy meals. This is the first time they have made Grilled Cheese themselves, and it was also the first time they operated the blender all on their own. (We were in the room supervising, of course.) They had a blast measuring ingredients, chopping fruits, and watching their lunch come to life.
Their Grilled Cheese sandwiches were absolutely divine. They were cheesy, buttery, and screamed comfort food. You just can't go wrong with a classic Grilled Cheese, in my humble opinion. The Banana Breakfast Potion was also a hit. This is basically a strawberry banana smoothie with Greek Yogurt and a touch of Manuka Honey. This came out great, and had so much flavor. The kids actually went back for another serving, they loved it so much! This will definitely be on our regular recipe rotation.
Overall, we really love this fun, Harry Potter inspired cookbook. There are tons of easy to prepare recipes that the whole family will love. Many of them are obviously inspired by Harry Potter....Some, not so much. That's okay, though, as this is truly a very well-rounded, basic cookbook for the budding chef in your life. With recipes for all meals, drinks, and even desserts, your children might even start preparing meals for the whole fam to enjoy!
Definitely be sure to check this out! It would be a great way to incorporate Home Economics and life skills into this new school year as well!
