***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my post. All opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.*** This week, my kids are entering Spring Break. Sadly, a proper vacation wasn't in the cards for us this year. Okay, who am I kidding? We don't ever really go on vacation for Spring Break. Anyway, we will be spending time here in the Cleveland area, and plan to do several local outings to the zoo, museums, and even to our gorgeous local parks. Another thing we will be doing is cutting out the screen time, forcing our kids to ~gasp~use their imaginations. We try to limit electronic/screen time anyway, because while technology is a wonderful thing, we musn't become too dependent on it. There's still plenty of wonder to behold in the world, even when we're not glued to our mobile devices. One of my favorite ways to teach mindfulness and creativity is through art. The Buddha Board is a great tool that helps me accomplish these goals painlessly and mess-free, too! Buddha Board is inspired by the Zen idea of living in the moment. You simply paint on the surface with water and your creation will come to life in bold design. Then as the water slowly evaporates, your art will magically disappear leaving you with a clean slate and a clear mind, ready to create a whole new masterpiece. Buddha Board is environmentally friendly as it only uses water - no ink, no paint, no chemicals - and it will last for years with proper care. Live for the moment and enjoy! There are 3 different Buddha Boards to choose from: The Original Buddha Board, the Mini Buddha Board, and the SUPER portable, Buddha Board Enso. (The Enso is a larger scale version of the Mini Buddha Board.) All 3 of these products offer kids a great way to create whatever their minds can imagine, as well as teach them about the fleeting nature of things. Have a creation that's just amazing, and you want to preserve it? Well, that's why we have cameras. Snap a picture, because once the Buddha Board dries, it becomes a blank canvas ready for new inspiration. My kids are really loving the whole Buddha Board experience. They prefer the larger boards to create with, since they allow for a bigger picture to unfold. The Original Buddha Board isn't as portable as the other models as it doesn't fold shut, but is a wonderful choice for home use. It's got a larger reservoir for water, too, so less refills necessary! The Enso is my personal favorite because it offers a large creation space and folds closed, making it perfect to take on the go. I've toted this with me to the park a few times now, and we have a great time painting trees, birds, and other things we observe in nature. The Mini Buddha Board is equally awesome, and is actually now a permanent resident of my husband's desk at his place of employment. He has found that having the Mini Buddha Board has allowed him to refresh during the day, invigorating new, creative energy when he feels stress or a slump in his energy. Oh, the brush itself fills with water for this model, which helps keep it mess-free. Think of it as doodling, but more zen and eco-friendly. All that's required is water, and the brushes are included with every Buddha Board product. Overall, I am absolutely loving our Buddha Board experience so far. These are not only a fun way to teach the kiddos to live in the moment, they're also just plain fun. It's a very cook experience to watch art form, and then disappear, leaving room for a brand new idea to manifest into art. The Buddha Board is also very eco-friendly due to its reusable nature, which helps us reduce our waste. If you're looking for screen-free ways to keep kids entertained and engaged, definitely grab a Buddha Board or 3. These are SO much fun, and something my entire family enjoys!
