***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my post. All opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.*** We spend much of our summer visiting local treasures, like Cedar Point, the Cleveland MetroParks, the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and more. Part of this time of course includes the time spent getting there. As we parents know, the car ride can be quite tedious for impatient, excited kiddos. That's why we plan for the in-car boredom by bringing something along to keep the kids engaged and sane. One of our recent boredom buster discoveries is the PBS KIDS Playtime Pad Tablet DVD Player Combo. This kid-friendly tablet comes preloaded with lots of fun, educational content, and thanks to Google Play, you can add lots more. For places with no wifi? No worries! There's a built-in DVD player so your littles can enjoy their favorite movies on the go. The PBS KIDS Playtime Tablet DVD Player comes preloaded with over 23 educational games and 120 video clips, songs, and music videos that all teach reading, math, and more. Expand your viewing power by playing your kids favorite DVDs on the Playtime Tablet DVD Player. Parental controls let you manage and customize your child’s experience. With Google Play, you can access over 1 million applications and games along with access to thousands of movies, books, songs, TV shows, and magazines. 100% of the net proceeds PBS KIDS receives from all purchases of the PBS KIDS Playtime Tablet DVD Player helps encourage all children to discover who they are and what they can do. We have really enjoyed this tablet so far, even if it is geared towards younger kids. (This is very kid-friendly, and can be used even by preschoolers.) My kids are 8 and 9, and still found plenty of fun inside this brilliant offering from PBS KIDS. We especially love the Paint Box, which includes art related activities such as some great coloring pages. My kids are very creative, so they really like visual arts. The games are also fun, but we found that many are geared towards younger kids. These games are educational and engaging, and would be great for early learning success. My 8 year old, Xander, is absolutely obsessed with Arthur, so he was thrilled to see that there's plenty of Arthur in the videos section, as well as in the Live TV option. There are other PBS KIDS favorites as well, which makes this a safe viewing experience, free from all the stuff we don't want our little ones exposed to. The best feature? Well, when we're in the car, it would have to be the DVD player. This has prevented sooooo many in car squabbles between the kids, and allows the driver to maintain their sanity until we reach our destination. My only critique of this product is that, while the battery life is generous at about 12 hours, we've found that for streaming video, it freezes on occasion and generally performs better while plugged in for longer movies. This isn't really that big of an issue for us, but I wanted to point it out for those considering making this purchase. No, it's no iPad or Kindle, but it's not meant to be. This is meant to be a kid-safe, educational tool for the younger kiddos, and it meets those expectations quite well with lots of games, sing-a-longs, art, and of course, our favorite PBS KIDS programming. If you're looking for ways to keep your kiddos learning and engaged during your summer travels, definitely check out this nifty little tablet. We're pleasantly surprised!
