Are there any Star Wars fans out there?
Wait. That's a silly question. I can't think of another movie franchise as beloved and legendary as Lucasfilm's Star Wars series. In fact, my husband and all of my children have totally been bitten by the Star Wars bug, and I don't see any relief in sight.
Thankfully, we were recently able to get an all new Star Wars fix with Lucasfilm's “Solo: A Star Wars Story". This is Han Solo's backstory, and is very helpful to watch when delving deeper into the Star Wars fandom. In Solo: A Star Wars Story, viewers get to know a younger Han Solo, and learn what makes him one of the fiercest, most epic characters in this series of films.
Lucasfilm’s “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” directed by Academy Award®–winning filmmaker Ron Howard—the creator of unforgettable films, such as “A Beautiful Mind,” “Apollo 13,” “Parenthood” and “Splash”—took moviegoers on this summer’s wildest ride with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy, Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich). The action-packed journey explores Han’s first encounters with future friend and copilot Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) and notorious gambler Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover), as well as his adventure-filled past alongside fellow street thief Qi’ra (Emilia Clarke) and career criminal Beckett (Woody Harrelson). Watch instantly on Sept. 14th as theMillennium Falcon sets course digitally in HD and 4K Ultra HD™ and on Movies Anywhere, and bring the adventure home on Blu-ray 4K Ultra HD™, Blu-ray™, DVD and On-Demand on Sept. 25.
“Solo: A Star Wars Story” bonus content takes fans behind the scenes to experience compelling discussions with the star-studded cast and screenwriters Jonathan Kasdan & Lawrence Kasdan (writer of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi); a revealing feature on Chewie and his enduring friendship with Han; a close-up look at the original version of the Millennium Falcon and Han’s first time piloting the infamous ship; the creation of the film’s otherworldly settings and pulse-pounding action sequences; and eight never-before-seen deleted and extended scenes.
OUR THOUGHTS :
This movie was enjoyed by everyone in my family, surprisingly enough. It's hard to find something we ALL want to watch, and SOLO: A Star Wars Story, fit the bill perfectly.
While this film featured new actors to play classic roles, it was still very authentic feeling. Young Han Solo has the same attitude and demeanor as the character we all know and love so well from other Star Wars films.
The story is fast-paced, engaging, and helps the viewer learn why Han Solo is who he is, and the things that drive him to fight for good. The acting is on point, and we especially loved the fact that Donald Glover was in the movie. We're already HUGE fans of his musical career under the name "Childish Gambino", so it was a real treat to check out his acting skills as well.
Overall, we definitely loved the movie, and without giving away any spoilers, I'd like to urge any and all Star Wars fans to check it out. This companion film fits right into the story, and helps add more depth to this much loved series.
