***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my post. Maybe you were shopping, and felt like someone was following you? With human trafficking being a real threat in certain areas, including my own, this is a very valid fear, and women and girls especially must remain proactively vigilant regarding their surroundings. Sadly, these predators often search for vulnerable women or women with their children. How scary is that?! I have personally been followed before, and it certainly leaves one with a panicky, sinking feeling. I remember the feeling of my blood running cold when I realized a strange man was following me while I had my oldest son out for a walk in his stroller. This was about 20 years ago, and before I had a cell phone available to me. Thankfully, I was able to get away from the person on my tail, but I have never forgotten about the feeling of dread and pure helplessness. Okay. I admit, that's pretty a frightening way to open. What about other, less nefarious scenarios where you might find yourself needing help? Maybe you had an accident or broke down somewhere, and aren't near a phone. Maybe you're having a medical emergency, and need assistance. Maybe you found yourself in a fire, or other disaster, and need help right away. This is where InvisaWear can help! What is InvisaWear? This is a line of gorgeous and functional safety accessories for women, powered by the trusted security experts at ADT. This line offers jewelry like bracelets and necklaces, or you can choose keychains, scrunchies, or even athletic bands perfect for the gym or hikes, etc. There's really something to suit every taste at InvisaWear. The best part? With just a couple of clicks, a silent alert can be sent directly to 5 predesignated contacts, to 911, or to both. These accessories aren't only beautiful and stylish, they are also discreet lifelines, that have the power to send help no matter where you are, 24/7/365 by sharing your exact location with your emergency contacts and/or the authorities. I received both a keychain and a scrunchie to check out for myself. As you can see, these look like normal, everyday accessories. There's no indication whatsoever that they're actually lifelines in disguise. The scrunchie is really neat, because the tracking device actually slips inside the scrunchy, and is hidden away from view. There is an opening to slip it in, and it has a nice, sturdy velcro closure to keep it secure. I really love the scrunchie especially, because it's the most inconspicuous design. No one would ever suspect that a woman might be able to summon the authorities with a hair accessory, after all! This is brilliant, and really could save lives. The best part? InvisaWear is free to use, with no fees or required contracts. They DO offer extra features at a premium, but basic functionality is free, once you purchase your accessory of choice. It's also SUPER simple to set up. (Can I get a collective Hooray here?!) Just download the InvisaWear App, pair your device(s), and then add your information. You can enter your own physical description, medical issues and medications taken, and of course, you can program your 5 emergency contacts. Once you have it all set up, there will be a test message sent out to all contacts. This is to ensure everything is working properly. You can even add a photo to the app, so authorities will know what you look like, should there be any issues. There are different ways you can set this up. You can have your emergency contacts receive a text with your precise GPS location, or you can alert your contacts AND 911. This is a personal preference, and the app allows you to choose. Please note: Your InvisaWear device pairs to your phone via Bluetooth, and works within about a 30 foot range. It will also say in your phone that the app is NOT connected. This is by design, and it's an intentional lie to keep you safe. You should always have the app running in the background while using your device. Just know that it will state that it's not connected, even when it is. Smart thinking, if you ask me! You can also use the app to specify what kind of emergency you're having. (This isn't necessary, but is definitely a helpful perk!) Whether it's a car crash, medical emergency, fire, or a potential Ted Bundy is on your tail and you need the police, InvisaWear is there to help. If you're not using the app itself to report a problem? No worries! All you need to do is double-click your InvisaWear accessory, and a silent alert will be sent. Press it accidentally? Again, no biggie! You can enter your own private code to let the folks at ADT know that all is well, and that you're safe. Overall, I am in love with this concept. As a woman and the mother of a preteen daughter, this is a lifeline for us. These devices offer a sense of security not only during everyday tasks, but also should the unthinkable ever occur. I love how discreet the designs are. They really are beautiful pieces, with a hidden secret inside. I personally keep my InvisaWear with me at all times, and so will my daughter should she ever venture out away from home once the world goes back to normal. This is a game-changer, and will help so many women stay safe and empowered. I'd definitely call this a must-have for every household. Great job, InvisaWear!
