In today's technologically advanced age, it seems that more often than not, our eyes are glued to various screens. Whether it's the TV, computer, gaming device, or even our phones, electronics get a LOT of attention in this techie world.

My daughter is hooked on old school, retro gaming. She especially loves classic games like Super Mario Bros., and she will spend every waking moment playing if we'd allow it. (We do not.) My youngest son also loves his tech time, and enjoys an online Wizard game in his spare time.

That's why we choose to disconnect from our devices for an hour a day, Friday nights especially, to enjoy some family time without digital distraction. We often play board games, turn on music and have dance or karaoke parties, or we just take a walk by the river together as a family.

We didn't hesitate to take the Family Fun Night Pledge and get started on making our own Family Friday memories, featuring Root Beer Floats, of course!

So last night, which happened to be a Friday evening, we broke out some classic board games, some creamy, vanilla ice cream, some cold, bubbly A&W, and even some whipped cream to top it all off.

Cause, you know....Everything good in life is even better when covered by a generous dollop of sweet whipped cream.

If you've never made a Root Beer Float, don't worry! It's probably one of the easiest recipes around. Simply put a couple scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream into a frosted mug, slowly pour A&W Root Beer over to cover, and top with some Whipped Cream if desired.

Yep, with some fun games, A&W and some ice cream, we had the perfect makings for a delicious and memorable Family Fun Night!

We had a great time playing some classic games, telling jokes, and of course, sipping on our creamy, delicious A&W Root Beer Floats. Sophie and Xander got into a rather heated game of Battleship, followed by a more lighthearted round of Snakes and Ladders. We also played some Mastermind, for good measure.

Taking an hour of tech free time to reconnect with the people that matter more than any content on any screen is a great way to bring families closer, and it's also a whole lot of fun!
