Are you ready for some FOOTBALL?!
Okay. I know. It's been football season for awhile now, and everyone's already excited and ready to eat, breathe, and dream touchdowns every game day. Or is that just MY crew? Anyway, here in the Cleveland, OH area, we take our sports very seriously, even if we aren't typically known for winning. Win or lose, game day is the perfect excuse to gather together with family and friends to cheer on our favorite teams.
We're actually going to be having a game day get together soon with a group of friends, and we headed to our local Walmart to grab supplies for some quick, easy, and affordable snacks.
I'm going to be making some absolutely drool-worthy snacks using buttery Ritz Crackers, jalapeno slices, and a wonderful, melty blend of cheeses. Y'all, this is like Jalapeno Poppers but better. I like to call these delicious bites Poppers on the Ritz. See what I did there? Puttin' on the Ritz....Poppers on the Ritz...Okay. I won't quit my day job. I also grabbed some Coca-Cola Zero Sugar to help wash them down. This zero calorie soda pop has been reformulated to have a new, improved, real Coke taste without the calories and sugar.
Anyway, my Poppers on the Ritz snacks are fantastic, affordable, and take ingredients you probably already have on hand. They're also super easy to assemble, and only take a few minutes to make. This way, you have more time to scream at your TV since you'll be spending less time in the kitchen.
What will you need to make these flavorful, crowd-pleasing snacks? You just need the following things: -Ritz Crackers (I just buy the normal, 13.7 oz Original Ritz Crackers.) -1 container Cream Cheese, softened -1/2 cup shredded cheddar or taco blend cheese (Or more, if you're like me and love, love, LOVE cheesy goodness.) -Jalapeno Slices
Just mix together your shredded and cream cheeses into a bowl until well combined. This shouldn't take long, especially with softened cream cheese.
Once your cheeses are mixed up well, just spoon a little dab on top of each Ritz cracker. Place your freshly cheesed crackers onto a baking sheet or tray. Next, pop a slice of Jalapeno on top of each cracker. Just plop them right on top of the cheese mixture.
Easy, peasy, right?
Now that these are fully assembled, it's time to cook them. Technically, you can serve these cold, but I love them nice and warm. The cheeses melt nicely, and the Ritz Crackers get nice and toasty. My mouth is seriously watering just thinking about these heavenly little snacks!
I usually just broil these for a few minutes in my toaster oven. This can be done in the oven, too. Typically, these only need a couple minutes under the broiler, as I just let them cook until the cheeses get slightly browned and bubbly.
Then, just serve these up to your hungry sports fans alongside some wings and other snacks.
Be sure to remember to grab some ice cold Coca-Cola to go with these spicy, creamy, savory bites. It really is the perfect accompaniment on game day, or any day!
What do you like to top your Ritz Crackers with?
Do you like spicy, cheesy creations like this one, or do you like to melt some chocolate or caramel on your Ritz Crackers? Maybe some ham and cheese Ritz Cracker Sandwiches?
