I have to admit, I am a bit of a foodie. I love cooking, but I also love heading out on the town to experience a fabulous meal that I don't have to prepare-or clean up after. Thankfully, the NE Ohio area is actually a hot spot for food, and has a ton of great restaurants to choose from.
Recently, we heard about something new at Romano's Macaroni Grill, and couldn't wait to see what all the buzz was about. They have a new, Chef's Favorites Menu that has come highly recommended, so we decided to head on over to their Fairlawn/Akron location to check it out.
When we arrived, we were immediately greeted and seated at a cozy, comfortable booth. Our server, Sarah, was attentive, friendly, and incredibly high energy. She enthusiastically told us all about the Chef's Favorites Menu, and was able to offer some solid recommendations since we weren't sure what we wanted to try. (I'm the indecisive type.) Sarah definitely helped us make up our minds, and got us even more excited about the menu!
Oh, and the bread. I can't forget about the bread! Sarah gave us a hearty loaf of herbed bread with olive oil to nibble on while we perused our menus and made our decisions.
For appetizers, we chose to try both the Citrus Chicken Arancini and the Prosciutto and Cheese Board. One can never go wrong with anything that includes cheese, after all.
The Arancini, which are fried rice balls with a delicious chicken and rice filling, were like little balls of heaven. Seriously, these were the star of the evening. They even came with a tangy roasted garlic + lemon aioli to dip them in.
The Prosciutto and Cheese Board was also fantastic. This includes imported Prosciutto, sun-dried tomato herbed goat cheese, Grana Padano cheese, Rosemary Crackers, and a delightful fig jam for just a hint of sweetness to compliment all that savory goodness.
Dan decided to try the Grilled Mahi-Mahi for an entree. This super fresh dish consisted of an expertly grilled Mahi-Mahi filet, Bruschetta Tomatoes, Pesto Gnocchi, and Basil. I don't personally eat seafood, but he was raving about how wonderful this dish was. The fish was cooked perfectly, the gnocchi were flavorful and fresh, and the flavors married together perfectly in this chef's favorite dish.
Since this was our first time eating at Macaroni Grill, and because I was horribly undecided, I took the server's recommendation and got the Mama's Trio. This would be the perfect way to try a few different, best selling entrees. My trio included the Chicken Parmesan, Lasagna Bolognese, and some creamy Fettuccine Alfredo.
It. Was. Perfection.
I absolutely loved the Chicken Parm, as it was crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside, and just bursting with flavor. The Lasagna was also phenomenal, and quite different than most lasagnas I've tried before. It included Italian Sausage, which was a flavorful surprise that was an absolute tease for my taste buds. Of course the Fettucine Alfredo was to die for as well. You can't go wrong with a simple sauce of parmesan, butter, and cream!
Needless to say, we needed a couple to-go boxes, as in the battle between Us vs. Food? Food won.
Hooray for leftovers, though!

These dishes are fresh, flavorful, and can definitely add some authentic Italian flavor to your day! We will definitely be adding Macaroni Grill as one of our favorite date night destinations!
