In today's world, the higher tech something seems to be, the more kids tend to be interested. Whether it's gaming, STEM toys, or even cool things like robotic toys, my kids are all about anything that uses science to work. They're just fascinated by toys that, in their words, "do cool stuff."
Can you blame them? I like toys that do cool stuff as well. Recently, we got to check out a few totally rad robotic toys, perfect for upcoming snow days or even Spring and Summer breaks! These toys are affordable, durable, and are sure to kill any boredom that may exist in your household. In fact, a couple of these may even make your house feel a wee bit safer, too. More about that in a few.
The first toy I'd like to talk about is perfect for sports lovers out there. Or even those who aren't into sports. I liked it, and I don't care about football one single bit. Just being honest here. I've never been the athletic type.
Anyway, the All Pro Passer Robotic Quarterback is touted to be, "the most accurate Quarterback on Earth". That's a HUGE claim, so we were excited to see how this worked.
This passer is perfect for getting exercise and perfecting one's football skills. It allows the user to practice literally hundreds of possible plays. All you need to do is choose the play you want, press short, long, slant, post, or hike, and the All Pro Passer will throw the perfect ball every time. Oh, it also throws much better than I do, with a range of about 25 yards.
Our weather has been pretty gross, so we haven't been able to use it as much as we will come Springtime. We did head to the park just to try it out, and it does actually work as described. The kids had fun selecting different plays and trying to catch the ball. I was impressed by how forcefully this throws the ball. It's not forceful in a way to cause injury, but it is thrown hard enough to get some great distance and momentum. The kids wore themselves out running to get the ball. They had a lot of fun trying to perfect their game. Check out this video below to see the All Pro Passer in action:
Next, I'd like to talk about some "Home Security" toys. No, they don't compare to actual alarms or professional monitoring services. They may, however, make a fearful child feel protected from monsters in the closet or anything else that may go bump in the night. A little peace of mind can definitely help littles fall asleep and have sweet dreams. That, alone, makes these cool Spybots worth looking into.
This Spybots Robot is perfect for listening in on conversations. It can be used up to 100 feet from the unsuspecting subjects, and it will send every word they say to a base unit. It's kind of like the way standard infant monitors work. The backpack can be placed anywhere you'd like to eavesdrop, and the included earpiece will let you listen in, undetected.
This is a fun toy, and definitely got a rise out of my kids. I listened to their conversations about an anime series they are watching, and I was able to repeat exactly what they had said.....From across the house. Xander wants to take ownership of this Spybots toy so he can freely listen to and spy on his sister. This could get interesting! This toy requires 3 AAA batteries, which are not included. Available at Target
Finally, I'd like to share the Spotbot Super Bright Tracking Light. This toy is so much fun, and can help detect intruders great and small. This can be placed outside of bedroom doors, and it will loudly alert to any intruders while chasing them down with a bright spotlight. It's almost like giving your kids their own personal security detail.
The motion sensor is very sensitive, but works well and as described. When motion is detected, an alarm siren sounds, the light shines brightly, and this brave little robot starts moving towards the source of the motion. My dog and cats are terrified of it, which we adults find absolutely hilarious. The siren is loud, but isn't too terribly obnoxious. It will definitely get your attention, should any intruders show up. This toy requires 3 AAA Batteries, not included. Available at Target
