America’s Greatest School Nurse Contest Plus Pfizer Pediatrics Giveaway #SickJustGotReal #ad 1/311/19/2017 ***Disclosure:This post has been sponsored by Pfizer Consumer Healthcare. All thoughts and reviews are my own.***
Several years ago, I worked at a Public Elementary School. I helped run an awesome before and after school program, which included fun, thematic lesson plans, which always included lots of games and experiments. It was a wonderful program, and it allowed me to work at Kyle's school when he was little. This was a HUGE deal, since he was a bit of a Mama's Boy at the time, and he felt much better knowing I was in the building during a good chunk of his school day.
Anyway, since I worked closely with kids in grades K-5, I quickly learned just how important school nurses are. In many ways, the school nurse is the backbone of the school, and helps everything to run smoothly. I know I have had to rely on the amazing school nurse more times than I could count.... Kids got into a fight, resulting in bumps or bruises? (Thankfully, this wasn't something that happened often.) See the nurse. Someone got sick, and ended up vomiting all over the desk and floor? See the nurse, and page the custodian. Headaches? Sniffles? Annoying, painful cough? Just feeling downright icky in general. To the trusted school nurse, we go! From the moment the bell rings in the morning, to the zip of the last backpack at the end of the day, school nurses are there to handle every bump, fever, sore throat, and stomach ache. When you can’t be around during the school day, they are the caregivers that look after your children. Pfizer Pediatrics wants to honor America’s Greatest School Nurse and would love for you to help spread the word to nominate a school nurse that you know goes above and beyond for students every day. A school nurse that you trust with your child’s health while they are away from the comforts of home.
Information about the Pfizer pediatric products:
Even with great school nurses around, kids get sick no matter how much you may try to prevent it. When sick gets real, the pediatric brands of Pfizer Consumer Healthcare are there with three solutions – Children’s Advil®, Children’s Robitussin® and Children’s Dimetapp® – to tackle the ickiest of symptoms. Ease those aches and pains, while reducing a child’s fever fast with Children’s Advil®, a great solution for kids as young as 2 and up to 11. Children’s Advil® comes in several great-tasting flavors, including: Sugar-free Dye-free Berry, Bubble Gum, Grape, Blue Raspberry, Fruit and Dye-Free White Grape flavors. There’s also Infants’ Advil® White Grape, which provides unsurpassed fever relief (among OTC pain relievers) with a syringe for easy dosing for children 6-23 months. For your child’s cough, trust Children's Robitussin® Extended-Release 12 Hour Cough Relief to control and relieve symptoms all-day or all- night. Available in grape or orange flavor, for children ages 4 and up. Please note, certain Children's Robitussin® products are only suitable for children ages 6 and up. Children’s Dimetapp® Multi-Symptom Cold Relief Dye-Free eases your child’s stuffy and runny nose, while quieting a bothersome cough. All in a great-tasting grape flavor that’s dye-free, for children 6 and up. *It is important to remember to always read and keep the cartons for complete warnings and dosing information on Pfizer Pediatric products and to use as directed.
I love the fact that Pfizer offers a wide variety of over the counter medications that actually help ease my kids' symptoms when they're feeling under the weather. And let's face it: This time of year, coughs, sneezes, and sniffles are quite common.
Just recently, Xander came down with some cold-like symptoms. He had a cough, his nose was runny and congested, and he even had a few bouts of the sneezes. Thankfully, I had some Children’s Dimetapp® on hand. This is one of the few medications he doesn't complain about, since it has a pleasant Grape flavor. It also helped ease his symptoms do he could get the rest his little body needed to recover from his cold. As always, with ANY medication, please be sure to follow the usage instructions carefully. Also, be sure to consult with your trusted physician to make sure the medication is the right fit for your child. Nominate Your Favorite School Nurse :

I would nominate my elementary school nurse. When I was in the 2nd grade I became very sick during school and the nurse let me lie down in her office for the entire day until my mom could take me home.

No one in our family is in school with a school nurse right now, so I'd like to symbolically nominate all school nurses. They have a huge job to do, often serving at two or more schools.

When my son was sent to a new high school I knew the nurse from Bible Study. She knew my son was shy and had a hard time adjusting. He also had trouble with ADD and she went to bat for him with the administration. He is a grown man now with a Masters Degree working in Washington DC. I always will remember her. She went above and beyond
