***Disclosure: This blog post is part of a paid Megan Media and Colgate blogging program. The opinions and ideas expressed here are my own..*** National Women’s Health Week is coming up soon, ladies! In fact, it's May 8-14, 2016. I'm glad we recognize the importance of women's health, especially since so many of us, myself included, often neglect our own well-being because we're so busy caring for others. When we have kids, homes, jobs, and marriages to worry about, it's easy to forget about ourselves! Can anyone relate? That’s why this year, leading up to National Women’s Health Week (May 8-14, 2016), Colgate Total® invites women across the country to pledge to Refresh, Restore and Repair their health, starting with something as simple as switching to the Colgate Total® Daily Repair regimen. Here are 5 simple, painless things you can do to celebrate YOUR health as we lead up to National Women's Health Week. I promise these tips won't make you miserable, and you might just end up forming new, healthy habits! 1. Eat a well-balanced diet. With so many convenience foods available, it's easy to make poor dietary choices. Instead of grabbing a candy bar or fast food, try and make a habit of packing nutritious, whole food snacks. This will not only help fuel your body without tons of fats, sodium, and empty calories, it will save you money as well. Not to mention that your waistline may thank you, too! 2. Try to get at least 8 hours of sleep each night. I have to admit, I often joke that I haven't gotten a good night's sleep in 16 years. (My oldest child is 16.) Sadly, for a long time this was pretty accurate. Being a mom means LOADS of sleep deprivation, between caring for infants, tending to sick kiddos, or just worrying about a million things once your head hits the pillow. However, getting enough sleep is essential for overall wellness. A well-rested body means that you'll be more active, alert and your immune system runs best when you get adequate sleep. Now that my youngest kids are 5 and 6, I am finally able to get a bit more sleep at night. I try to do relaxing things like drink some chamomile tea or do some reading to help myself get into the mood to sleep. 3. Take time to smell the roses....Literally! Another thing that can promote wellness is taking the time to connect with nature. Whether it's smelling some beautiful blooms like the ones below, taking a nature walk with the family, or even dancing in the rain, there's something invigorating about taking the time to appreciate the beauty that nature has to offer. It can also aid in reducing stress. Mental and emotional health are important to overall health and shouldn't be neglected. 4.Make "Me Time" a priority. As women, it can often feel wrong to take time out for ourselves. When so many people and responsibilities demand our time and attention on a daily basis, it's easy to forget to recharge our own batteries. That's why it's so important to devote a little bit of time every day to something that makes you feel happy and relaxed. Maybe you love a hot bubble bath and a good book? Maybe yoga or running are more your cup of tea? Or maybe you're like me and you enjoy meditation and listening to soothing music? No matter what you love doing, please take the time to treat yourself and DO it! Making your own happiness and well-being a priority will not only make you feel refreshed, it will also make you more equipped to give those you love your best, too. 5. Switch to the Colgate Total® Daily Repair regimen. Another way to support your health is to practice good hygiene. Oral care is an incredibly important aspect of self-care, and can definitely contribute to overall health. The Colgate Total® Daily Repair regimen offers products that provide a range of oral health benefits. New to the regimen is the Colgate Total® Daily Repair Mouthwash , which helps kill bad breath germs while also helping to repair daily damage to teeth. Also in the regimen is Colgate Total® Daily Repair Toothpaste, which helps repair early teeth & gum damage, freshen breath, and whiten teeth. I've been loving the Colgate Total® Daily Repair line. Using both the toothpaste and the mouthwash have left my mouth feeling super-clean. I love the cool, minty flavor, and the incredible fresh breath that accompanies use. The Colgate Daily Repair line of products is a wonderful way to promote my overall health 365 days out of the year!
