Halloween is only a few short days away! How excited are your little ones?
My kids are absolutely ecstatic, and cannot wait to take on the neighborhood in their super-scary costumes. Sophie is being a "Gothic Rose", and Xander is going as a "Zombie Reaper." They think they look like the scariest creatures around....And me? Well....I think they're both adorable.... You can be the judge, though. Here they are, all decked out in their Halloween Best:
Trick or Treating is still a couple of days away, and the kids cannot stop talking about it. To keep them excited and enjoying the Halloween spirit, we've been doing tons of spooky things at home. From watching scary movies and listening to spine-tingling Creepypastas, to reading scary books, we're definitely ready for whatever Halloween throws our way.
Speaking of books, I have some awesome Halloween-themed story books to share from Sky Pony Press. I absolutely LOVE this company, because they offer so many great reads for bookworms of all ages and stages. I especially love their kids' picture books, and was thrilled to see that they have some fun-filled Halloween stories for little ones.
My kiddos absolutely LOVE these books, and we've been reading them a few times a day. They love the vibrant illustrations, the funny stories, and of course, the fact that while these books are filled with ghosts, monsters, and witches, they're not TOO scary, if you know what I mean. These 3 Halloween books are a must-have for your kids' library. Check our more info and links below:
GHOSTS GO SCARING by Chrissy Bozik and Patricia Storms: It’s Halloween night and the ghosts are out of the shadows and ready to scare! Just in time for fall festivities, The Ghosts Go Scaring doubles as both a Halloween tale and a counting book. An enjoyable Halloween take on “The Ants Go Marching,” the sing-song nature of the text makes this a great read-aloud before bedtime and the perfect devlish story for fans of this special holiday!
BRUNHILDA’S BACKWARDS DAY by Shawna J. C. Tenney: Brunhilda the witch loves making trouble. As soon as she leaves the house, she begins to spread her misery. But one night, Brunhilda’s cat makes trouble instead. When Brunhilda wakes up that next morning, she is on the right side of the bed. The day has gone completely backwards. What will happen when Brunhilda casts her all-time favorite misery-inducing spells? This is a silly story about how sometimes being nice can be more rewarding than being mean. I WANT TO EAT YOUR BOOKS by Karin Lefranc and Tyler Parker: There’s a zombie in the school, but he doesn’t want brains… He wants books! When he catches a whiff of the school library, the children need to come up with a plan fast before all their books become history! This monster book is silly and fun, with a strong message about kindness and friendship. This is the perfect monster book for little ones who want a thrill but aren't looking for anything too scary! We went trick or treating in our usual neighborhoods. It was a lot of fun. It was a beautiful night; not too cold or too hot.
