It's that time of year, everyone! The Holiday shopping season is upon us! (At least it is if you're like me and get an early start to avoid the mad rush of frazzled, last-minute shoppers in December!)
For the 2014 Holiday season, I will be featuring tons of great gift ideas for babies, kids, men, women, pets, and even for the person who has everything. We all have some of those on our gift lists, don't we? There will even be loads and loads of chances to win many of the gifts I am featuring. How cool is that?! You can check out my 2015 Holiday Gift Guide at any time from now till Christmas. Make sure to check often, as it will be growing by the day! Like many others during this time of year, I am excited about the Holidays. I love seeing family and friends, and of course, watching my kids' eyes light up when they open their gifts. While this time of year is joyous, it's also important to remember that not everyone is as fortunate as we are. In many other parts of the world, families struggle for basic necessities like food, shelter, clothing, and even safe drinking water.
As a mom, I want to teach my kids not only to be grateful for all they have, but to also want to help others. So when I was asked to partner with World Vision again this year to promote their Holiday Gift Catalog, I jumped at the chance.
World Vision is a Christian relief and development organization dedicated to helping children, families, and communities worldwide reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. We help transform the lives of the world’s poorest children and families in nearly 100 countries, including the United States, through interventions such as nutrition and safe drinking water programs, poverty relief and community development programs, disaster assistance, and more. Their non-profit work extends assistance to all people, regardless of their religious beliefs, gender, race, or ethnic background. World Vision has a wonderful Gift Catalog that will not only allow you to give some fantastic gifts, but also help those in need. Check out this brief video that shows how it works!
Doesn't this way of gifting sound amazing?! Not only do you get unique, handcrafted gifts, you're also helping those in need. Really, it's a win-win situation. Your purchases are also tax deductible!
We received the stunning Balinese Multi-Strand Necklace to check out for ourselves. This necklace is 46" long, and is made from several strands of intricately placed beads.
My necklace arrived quickly, and was beautifully packaged in a pretty little pouch. I just love extra little touches like that, don't you?
This necklace really is quite unique. Since it's handmade, no two will be exactly the same. Colors and beads may vary a bit, but the dominant colors will be these very rich blues and greens.
I have been wearing my Balinese Multi-Strand Necklace quite a bit lately, and have gotten loads of compliments on it. This can go well with jeans or leggings and a casual top, or it can be dressed up and worn with a nice, seasonal dress. The sky is the limit with this versatile piece!
If you're looking for a wonderful way to give back this Holiday season, I would definitely recommend checking out what the folks at World Vision have to offer. Remember, these gifts help provide people in need with things they need most like clean water, life-saving medications, food, and of course, a way to support their families and villages. It just doesn't get much better than that!

We take a couple tags off the church giving tree which ask you to purchase items for a specific person at an organization that our church helps to support.

We always pick an organization to donate to. Toys for tots, the angel tree, the animal shelter.. something. It helps to remember what the season is all about.

I have Power of Attorney for a man who would be homeless otherwise-do all his financial, legal, healthcare, housing etc. My husband and I also give to two homeless men who live under a bridge, bedding food etc. We do it all year long not just @ the holidays. it's not easy but people have needs all year long.

We like to do the show boxes at Christmas. This year I think we'll o the Angel Tree that gifts the donation to a child in our town etc. This cause is wonderful. And the jewelry is just so vibrant and pretty. I matched all your outfits in color and you look splendid in the piece. Thank you telling us about World Vision.

We do shoeboxes for children in our local community (similar to Operation Christmas Child but the boxes stay local).

I like to donate used books and clothes to local organizations. Sometimes I win toys that may not interest my nephew so I save those to donate in December to the Giving Tree at City Hall in the Mall.

My favorite way to give back is by volunteering at our local soup kitchen, volunteering at meals on wheels and by on each holiday we all volunteer together to serve meals to the homeless.
