Who could be part of a Breast Cancer Awareness event without thinking about The Willow Store? The Willow Store, for those of you who reside under a rock, (just kidding.) is a fantastic online store that offers organic, all natural personal and baby care items. Among their most popular items? Their Organic Nursing Pads. of course! Any mama out there knows how essential good nursing pads are postpartum. After a woman gives birth, she begins lactating. For a new mom, this can be excruciating initially, and full of not-so-pleasant surprises. Like engorgement, (ouch!) soreness, and yes, even leaky breasts. Or should I say spraying, leaky breasts? Without proper protection, a mama's breastmilk can be a source of embarrassment for some women, especially if it leaks and saturates the clothing. When I was nursing, I remember experiencing some leakage in public one time, and the entire front of my shirt was soaked. I was absolutely mortified! And I also realized that my disposable nursing pads were not performing their duties well at all. So I began looking for more durable, eco-friendly alternatives. That's when I first discovered The Willow Store. The Willow Store is committed to supporting a Reusable Future. The Earth is not disposable—and we need to treat her with the respect that she deserves, with reusable products that are sustainable for the environment and our economy. Reusables are our future, and The Willow Store is passionate about making a difference, for our children, and for the Earth. With Nursing Pads, Mama Pads, and even a line of cloth diapers, The Willow Store is a leader in providing families with organic and reusable personal care items. And all of their products are made right here in the USA, which is wonderful in supporting our economy.

Babybonkie: Jessica M. Go Anywhere Booster:Melanie J. Babykicks 3g:Madeline M. As a family of 5, it becomes quite the challenge to find a place for everything. Since 2 of our children are still very small, we sometimes seem to be completely overwhelmed with baby gear, toys, and mountains of kids' books! Seriously, we have hundreds of books for the kids. So many, in fact, we have to keep them in a few different places throughout the house. As we parents all know, as kids grow and become more independent, they like to be able to choose their own books to look at and have read to them. Doing this by looking at the spine of a book on an ordinary bookshelf doesn't make this an easy task for a budding bookworm. Kids are incredibly visual, and love to be able to see the covers of their books when choosing their next reading adventure. What does this mean? A child will pull not 1, not 2, but about 20 books off of the bookshelf, throw look at the covers until they find the one that they want to read, and will leave the others scattered all over the floor in a big, disorganized mess. Okay, at least this is what happens in MY house. I'm certain some of you can relate! It's no secret that standard bookshelves aren't overly ideal for displaying children's books. Kids' books come in so many different shapes and sizes, and trying to fit them all neatly on a standard bookshelf just doesn't work. Especially since this only allows the spine to be seen. I have always loved the uniquely designed front facing bookcases found at day care facilities, at libraries, and in classrooms. You know the ones I mean...They are designed specifically with children's books in mind and allow the covers of the books, rather than the spines to be displayed. This makes picking out a book easy and fun for young children! That's why I was so excited when I learned about Tidy Books. These fantastic bookshelves are designed with kids' books in mind, and are much like those ingenious shelves you'll find in your child's library! Tidy Books bookshelves are not only very attractive and match any decor, they are also a great learning tool. These great shelves feature a tactile, colorful alphabet to help encourage learning while kids explore, and also make it easy for kids to put their own books away, helping their sense of pride and responsibility! Each Tidy Books bookshelf will hold up to 85 children's books of all shapes and sizes, creating a visually stimulating and fully functional library that any child is sure to enjoy. With the 2011-2011 school year underway, the days getting a bit on the brisk side, and the changing foliage all around us, one thing is perfectly evident: Fall has arrived! I'm sure you've all started packing away your summer wardrobe in favor of sweaters, long sleeves, adorable leggings, and all of your other go-to autumn staples. After all, the short shorts, sundresses and tanks just won't cut it year round...At least not in my part of the country. Recently, as I was going through my own wardrobe, I realized that I had absolutely no cooler weather clothing that actually fit me. You see, I spent the better part of 2 years pregnant, and before that I was a much larger size than I am now. So all I had in the closet were maternity clothes and outfits that drape on me in an odd, tent-like manner since I am around 50lbs lighter now that we have all of the baby-making out of the way. I STILL need to get a coat, since the one I have is a whopping 5 sizes too big! I found that out the hard way yesterday when we went to our first outdoor family gathering of the year. Imagine how weird it felt to be wearing a jacket you could swim in all day long? Awkward, to say the least! Anyway, I have been actively looking for great fall clothing so I can update my wardrobe. I just turned 30, so I love styles that are cute, modern, and trendy, all while remaining classy and beautiful. After all, I am a Mom, and want to remain presentable without sacrificing style and comfort. Does that mean I am going to revert to "Mom Jeans" and other fashion no-no's many of us recall our own mother's wearing? Not at all! Moms can be stylish, fresh, and gorgeous, and you don't even have to sacrifice comfort. There are some fabulous clothing choices out there that are flattering, beautiful, and ridiculously comfortable. You just have to know where to look. That's why I was so excited when I discovered Karen Kane. If you haven't heard of this designer, you will. Karen Kane is taking the fashion world by storm with timeless, sophisticated designs that are still flirty and fashion-forward. While trends have changed since Karen launched her first collection, her approach and personal philosophy toward fashion has never wavered. She designs with ease, luxury, and longevity in mind. Her inspiration comes from that which is closest to her soul – the California Coast she has long called her home, the city streets she and her co-workers navigates each day, and of course, her family. When asked about the qualities that define Karen, many of her colleagues and contemporaries quickly point out two things: her professional drive and personal sense of humility. This could be seen as early as high school when she won an award in for “Outstanding Tailoring” from the State of California. That award would be the first of many more – the prestigious FIDM Peacock Award for excellence in design upon graduation, two annual “Best Modern Wear Line” Dallas Fashion Awards, a nomination for the Fashion Industry Guild’s “California Designer of the Year.” In 2000, her husband Lonnie also received an award of his own for “CEO of the Year” from Apparel Magazine (known at the time as Bobbin.) Hi, all! Just wanted to let everyone know that we will be out of the state today (Sunday) at my husband's family's annual bonfire and birthday celebration! Hopefully we won't get too drenched with rain. I have a few lucky winners I need to pick, and I will do so on Monday when we return home. Also, be on the lookout Monday for 2 GREAT giveaways! Karen Kane (fabulous!) and Tidy Books, a must have for any family with little ones! Hope everyone is having a great weekend, and I will be back soon!
One of the hardest parts of being a cloth-diapering family is dealing with rashes. Luckily, while using cloth, they seem to be few and far between. But on the rare occasion one of my babies gets a rash, they can be difficult to clear up, as traditional diaper rash creams will totally ruin cloth diapers by leaving behind a nasty residue and causing them to repel rather than absorb. Eek! When dealing with rashes, we've had to use liners and pray that the creams didn't come into contact with the diaper. We've also had to resort back to using disposables until the rash cleared up. While most diaper creams and ointments are horrible to use with cloth, I am excited to have found one that is totally and completely cloth diaper safe: Grandma El's. This "miracle cream" is made from natural ingredients, and is super gentle on baby's delicate skin. Used with every diaper change, Grandma El's will keep your baby free of diaper rash. This pediatrician recommended, hypo-allergenic product is proudly made in the USA and contains only the safest ingredients for your baby. Grandma El's has put an end to the white, messy paste, lotions, and creams. The patented formula creates a breathable barrier which lets your baby's skin breathe as it protects from moisture, making it the fastest, most effective product available. |
