The Abiie Beyond Junior Y High Chair Grows With Your Child from Infancy to Adulthood #Sponsored9/14/2015 ***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my review. No other compensation has been provided, and all opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.*** It's no secret that having a new baby means needing a whole lot of gear. After all, infants cannot use many of the products adults and big kids use. Can you imagine a tiny baby driving a car? Or maybe sitting on an adult sized potty with no modifications? Yep. Babies need products all their own to make life easier and keep them safe during every age and stage of development.
Unfortunately, many of these must-have baby products also come with a hefty price tag. (Have you seen the prices of car seats, play yards, and other baby must-haves lately? Yikes!) Parents spend hundreds of dollars on things that their little ones will outgrow in the blink of an eye. Does that seem ridiculous to anyone other than me? What if I told you that I just discovered a gorgeous baby high chair that will actually grow with your child, all the way from infancy to adulthood? Does that sound too good to be true? Well, the folks at Abiie have made it happen. The Abiie Beyond Junior Y High Chair offers baby a comfortable, secure place to learn how to eat solid foods, but it also doubles as a cozy chair for older kids and even adults!

Have you noticed that more and more places are implementing a uniform dress code for children? I have been noticing this is a growing trend that is not just limited to private schools anymore. I have heard that some public schools and even daycare centers are now requiring school uniforms in their establishments.
As a mom, I see the benefits of this change. For one, it helps to prevent bullying. When I was in school, people were often labeled and discriminated against if they weren't wearing the latest styles. The fact is, not all families are wealthy enough to afford $150 jeans or ridiculously priced sneakers. A child shouldn't be targeted for their family's economic status. I recall one of the worst things you could be called was a "K-Mart Shopper". Granted, this was in the 80's and 90's, and K-Mart has come a long way since then. Another reason that kids school uniforms may be a good idea, even in public establishments, is because it takes away distractions and allows kids to focus on learning rather than what other kids wore to school that day. Let's face it: The clothing that some kids choose to wear can be downright inappropriate or even offensive, and this is not conducive to learning. If a kid comes to school wearing a halter top and very short shorts, they're going to get a lot of attention. (Probably not positive attention, either!) This can cause a great amount of distraction in the classroom. Yesterday, I talked to you a bit about how collecting Box Tops for Education can help provide schools with the tools and supplies needed for success. Over Over 80,000 k-8 schools participate, and this wonderful program has raised over $525,000,000 since it was created in 1996. Box Tops come on select General Mills products, and each box top is worth $0.10. Box Tops can be donated directly to your child's school. I know....Ten cents doesn't sound like much, but when everyone collects them, this really does add up quickly. Schools can use these Box Tops to help fund everything from extra supplies for students to new playgrounds or even new computers for the technology lab. How cool is that?! Right now, you can find special Bonus Box Tops on select General Mills products at Walmart. They're easy to spot! They will have a BIG pink 5 on them. Have little ones help collect Box Tops in store by asking them to find products with the big number 5 on them. It's a fun game for early learners, and you will maximize the support given to your child's school! Sophie found some Bonus Box Tops on these Fiber One Salted Caramel Cheesecake Bars. We want to make collecting Box Tops a family affair. This means creating ways to make gathering Box Tops fun for even the youngest family members. This can be done in several ways from having Box Top Scavenger Hunts to making special Box Top collection boxes, decorated by the kiddos. The possibilities are endless. One thing we have started doing is using a Box Top Library. I chose several of my kids' favorite books, and placed them in our Tidy Books book caddy. When Sophie or Xander would like to borrow one of these extra special books, they need to find a Box Top to place in the collection baggie I have attached to the side of our Box Tops Library. Once your child finds a Box Top for Education, have them cut it out and place it into the collection baggie. Once they have completed this step, it's time for them to choose a book! Simple, right? Here's my Sophie, looking over her Library to see what she'd like to read today. Be sure to change the books out on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to ensure the kids remain interested and excited about their own special library! Oh! It looks like Sophie chose the book, "Fred". Good choice! This is definitely one of our favorite stories to read together as a family! It's time to settle down for story time, and maybe even a snack. We had our library set up outside since it's such a gorgeous day. I love our book caddy, since it allows us to have a completely mobile library! We put down my favorite patchwork blanket, and even brought some Cotton Candy GoGurt to slurp on while we read. Maybe, just maybe, we will enjoy some of those Fiber One Cheesecake Bars, too. So far, our Box Tops for Books Library has been a huge hit with my children. They love hunting for Box Tops and being able to exchange them for the book of their choice. Not only does our Box Tops Library help our schools, it also gets the kids excited about reading! It's a win-win situation, folks!
If you'd like to create your own DIY Box Top Library, and I hope you do, here's what you will need:

I am sharing this post as part of a Bloggin' Mamas Social Good Campaign, and was not compensated for doing so.
Bloggin’ Mamas is supporting the Ad Council and The Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) by sharing the word about Child Passenger Safety Week (September 13-19, 2015) and National Seat Check Saturday (September 19, 2015). Did you know that motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death for children age 1 to 13 in the USA? In 2013, a child under 13 was involved in a crash every 33 seconds. One of the goals of Child Passenger Safety Week is to encourage parents and caregivers to visit SaferCar.gov/TheRightSeat; to determine if their child is in the right seat for his or her age and size and to locate a car seat inspection event in their area. Additionally, parents and caregivers will be urged to register their child’s car seat with the manufacturer so as to be informed in the event of a recall. Here Are Some Car Seat Safety Tips:
Here Are Some Car Seat Installation Resources:If a car seat is not installed correctly, your child's safety could be compromised. Every car seat has different installation instructions. You can find resources and tips here to help you get “the right fit” on your car seats: http://www.safercar.gov/parents/RightFit.htm; Free Car Seat Inspections: During Child Passenger Safety Week, there will be events across the country where Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will inspect car seats and show parents and caregivers how to correctly install and use them. In most cases, this service is free of charge. Locate a car seat check event here: http://www.safercar.gov/cpsApp/cps/index.htm?Have more questions? Join the Child Passenger Safety Week Twitter Chat on 9/16/15 2p-3p EST. Follow @NHTSAgov and #therightseat. Star Wars Rebels Complete Season One Now Available Everywhere On Blu-Ray and DVD #Sponsored9/9/2015 ***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my review. No other compensation has been provided, and all opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.***
Okay, so everyone knows that Star Wars is kind of a big deal. A HUGE deal for some. I actually have a very good friend who has a gorgeous Star Wars related tattoo. Yep. Star Wars is serious business, folks.
My husband and teen both love watching all of the Star Wars films. They even try to impersonate Yoda while swinging broomstick "light sabers" at each other. Hey, whatever works, I suppose! My youngest kids, Sophie and Xander, love the Star Wars movies, but their favorite way to celebrate The Force? Well, they like Star Wars Rebels! This animated series airs on Disney XD, and is a HUGE hit among the 8-13 crowd. My kids, who are a little younger, absolutely love it, though. The animation is fabulous, and it's a great tie-in to all of the Star Wars adventures everyone knows and loves. Now that school is back in session for most of us, a lot of families are looking for ways to help give back to their schools. After all, school just happens to be our kids' home away from home. Unless, of course, you're homeschooling. We have a child that goes to public high school, and one who is homeschooled through the K12 public homeschool program. Still, we are big supporters of education, and believe that every child deserves the best education possible. If kids are going to learn effectively, schools need our support. Here in my hometown, our schools are getting a major overhaul. Some schools are being renovated, some are being demolished, and we will even be getting a few shiny, new schools, too. This, of course, costs quite a bit of money, and the budget is pretty tight. As a parent and a proud member of my community, I want to help in any way I can. Not only does supporting our schools matter as a parent, it also matters as a citizen. Good schools matter for everybody! One way we give back is by collecting Box Tops for Education when we purchase General Mills products at Walmart. Before the hate mail starts rolling in, YES, I am fully aware that these products are not GMO-free, and they aren't organic. While I love organic foods and purchase them very often, we don't ONLY buy organic foods. Our pockets, like many others', are not that deep. Plus, there are some products that my family loves that are traditional products and not organic. We do a mix of products here, and I will never claim otherwise unless this changes. We're also not vegetarian, and I don't drive a Prius. Just being honest. Anyway, since I got that out of the way, I'd love to talk a bit about how the fantastic Box Tops for Education program can help benefit your child's school. Here are some quick facts: -Box Tops are worth $0.10 for your child's school
Right now, when you shop for groceries at Walmart, you might notice some Bonus Box Tops on select General Mills products. Many of these are staples you already have on your shopping list, such as Pillsbury Crescent Rolls or Cookie Dough, or even Family Sized Value Packs of your favorite cereals, like Cheerios! By saving your Box Tops, you can make a real difference in your local schools. The best part? The schools can use these Box Tops in any way they see fit! If your school needs a new playground, new textbooks, building repairs or upgrades, or even some fun new technology, Box Tops for Education can help make it happen. As a mom who cares about her kids' education, this makes me feel good! So when you're shopping at Walmart, be sure to look for specially marked packages and start saving those Box Tops! Stay tuned, because I have some fun ideas to make saving these a family affair! Have you ever collected Box Tops for Education? Do you have any creative or fun ideas to get the kiddos involved, too? I'd love to hear about it! This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of General Mills®. The opinions and text are all mine.
