Like most families, we're getting ready for the Holidays. I have already bought most of my gifts, and just have a few more to go. I am also in the process of looking for great menu ideas and decorations to help celebrate the season. Wreaths, candles, and cute Holiday-themed decor is about to make its way out of dusty boxes to adorn our shelves and walls again. I even have an assortment of Holiday themed Signazon postcards ready to mail out to loved ones. I just love this time of year, don't you? For our family, the Holiday season is a bit different, though. You see, my daughter, Sophie, was born on New Year's Eve, and my son Xander was born just 2 weeks after that. I love the fact that my kids were born so close together, but the fact that they were both born right after Christmas can be a bit stressful, especially when planning their parties. So many people are on vacation or have plans, especially on New Year's Eve, so we usually give them a joint birthday party after the hustle and bustle of the Holidays has blown over. (They're young enough now that they don't mind sharing a party, so why not?) This year, I am not sure what theme I would like to choose for their birthday party. I was thinking that monkeys would be a cute idea, but we have done that before. Or maybe a Disney themed party with Mickey and Minnie Mouse, or possibly Winnie the Pooh. It's tricky finding something gender neutral enough to celebrate both a boy's and a girl's birthday, so I am bouncing a lot of different ideas around right now. I plan to go all out this year, since the kids are old enough to really have fun with it. I am thinking about getting tons of decorations and even custom banners to hang throughout the house. I am also thinking of having themed snacks, too. (Thankfully, Pinterest will be there to help with those ideas since I am not too creative!) What kinds of themes do you use for your kids' birthday parties? Do you have any fun, gender neutral party theme suggestions? I'd love to hear them!

I feel for you, we have the same thing here, my step-daughter is New Years eve and step son is 3 weeks later (and husband is a few days before him! Yikes!). My son is turning 2 in February and i'm already thinking of party themes (so fun!). I'm considering pirates which can totally be gender neutral. You could do a farm theme, I saw this online somewhere, very cute. You could even hire a "petting zoo" to come to the house!

That is an AWESOME idea, Lynn! My kids love animals, so that is definitely something they would enjoy. They also both love Princesses, but I don't think Xander would appreciate the photos of his "princess party" later on in life, haha
