All opinions are my own.*** In my house, running out of clean princess dresses is a crime against humanity. Okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but my 5 year old, Sophie, acts like it's the end of the world if all of her frilly dress-up gear is dirty. She has recently become hooked on wearing her fancy duds, and I blame Taylor Swift, 100%. You see, recently, Sophie attended a Taylor Swift concert, and she was totally awe-struck and inspired. It was her first concert, and she was swept away in the glitz and glamor of it all. And of course since Ms. Swift had about a zillion costume changes, Sophie now insists on always being stage ready, too. She even has her own "Wardrobe". In addition to my little diva, I also have a 4 year old boy,a teenage boy, and a husband who is the service manager at an automotive repair facility. Obviously, I do a lot of laundry. A lot. When it comes to our laundry routine, I try and avoid things like artificial dyes and fragrances. This is especially important since my daughter has fairly sensitive skin and tends to break out and get itchy when she experiences a chemical overload. So when choosing laundry detergents and softeners for my family, I look for products that are gentle enough for the most sensitive skin without sacrificing performance. Did you know that almost half of US adults say they have sensitive skin? It's true. While many of them seek out facial and body care products specifically designed for sensitive skin, they may not realize that the products they use to care for their fabrics (their second skin) are equally important. Another interesting fact? A whopping 87% of free detergent consumers use scented fabric softener/dryer sheets, which can cause irritation. This is incredibly counter-productive. Using scented fabric softeners full of chemical fragrance and dyes kind of nullifies the free detergent. So if you or someone in your household has skin sensitivities, it's really a good idea to follow a completely dye and perfume free laundry regiment. This will help your clothing look great and spare you any skin irritation, too. Thankfully, the folks at P&G have the perfect solution to this common laundry conundrum. They offer a line of wonderful Free & Gentle products from trusted brands like Tide, Bounce, and Downy. These products are hypoallergenic, and are even tested and recommended by dermatologists. Now that's something I feel good about! Here's the low-down on this line-up: o Tide Free & Gentle Detergent / Tide Stain Release Free In-Wash Booster Mild on skin as the leading free detergent, cleans better, and removes more residue from stains. o Downy Free & Gentle Fabric Softener Provides outstanding comfort and freshness through its softening formula while remaining mild on skin. o Bounce Free & Gentle Dryer Sheets Provides freshness, softness, static control and even repels pet hair while maintaining a mild formula for ones skin Recently, we had the opportunity to check out the entire line of P&G Free & Gentle products for ourselves. The first thing I washed? You guessed it! A load or three of Sophie's "Stage Apparel". These dresses and outfits are covered in glitter, sequins, and tulle, and require very gentle laundering. I love the fact that these products are gentle enough for this most important duty. After all, no one wants an angry pop princess, right? That can lead to frightening things like head-shaving and assaulting vehicles with sports equipment. Not only did these products make Sophie's costumes look good as new, they also worked wonders on the rest of our laundry. My husband's nasty work clothing, my teen's stinky socks, and even the towels we use to wash the pets all come out beautifully clean and fresh when using these products. The Tide Pods are so easy and convenient to use. Just pop one in the wash and let it work its magic on even the toughest of stains. I'm a little weird when it comes to fabric softener....Rather than using a liquid or a dryer sheet, I often use both. What can I say? I like really soft fabrics. After all, our clothing is our second skin! Overall, I couldn't be any happier with P&G's Free & Gentle line of laundry products. They are gentle on even the most sensitive skin, yet they harness the cleaning power that their respective brands are so well known for. Well done, P&G!
