***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my post. All opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.*** Over the past year, I've really come out of my shell. Rather than hiding and trying to remain completely invisible like I had for so many years, I am finally able to actually LIKE myself, and I am no longer worried about whether or not people see me. Yes. I really DID want to be invisible. Those days are over, thank goodness. I've finally started discovering who I am, and I kinda like the gal. Finally. Who knew?! This, in some ways, means I get to learn how to do certain things all over again. Things like fashion, hair, and cosmetics are fun again, and I'm like a kid in a candy store, discovering new favorite things that a few years ago, I would have completely shied away from. One thing I've recently discovered that I absolutely love is make up. I love to try the latest and greatest cosmetics, using my face as a blank canvas. Make up is fun, and can definitely help a woman look and feel her best. Whether it's a subtle, more natural look for every day, or red carpet glam fit for the poshest of occasions, make up gives us an easy way to express ourselves. The best part? When the event is over, we wash our faces and start anew the next day. Recently, I received a couple of brand new products from Rimmel London to check out for myself. They now offer Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation and Concealer, and I couldn't wait to check out this new formulation. First, before I get into my personal thoughts, here are the product descriptions: Lasting Finish 25HR Breathable Foundation : New Lasting Finish 25HR Breathable Foundation is Rimmel’s most lightweight long-lasting formula. It perfects your skin with medium buildable coverage whilst enriched with breathable skin technology that doesn’t clog pores. Moisturizes for up to 25HRS. With SPF 18. Lasting Finish 25HR Breathable Concealer : New Lasting Finish 25HR Breathable Concealer is Rimmel’s most long-lasting formula. With medium coverage, it helps to conceal imperfections. The cushion applicator allows for perfect blendability & on the go touch ups. Okay, so now, I'll talk about my opinion of these new products. First, I'd like to disclose that I was a HUGE fan of Rimmel's old foundation and concealer formula. The "old version" of these products were considered among my all time, "Holy Grail" products. They compared and often exceeded much more expensive, department store cosmetic brands. So, the bar previously set by Rimmel London was already incredibly high. Still, I went into this with an open mind, and was really hoping to love these new formulations as much as I did their predecessors. There are some pros and some cons to the new formulations. Both of these products offer a more sheer, natural finish for those who don't like full coverage make up. These are touted as being medium coverage, but in my opinion, 2 coats are needed to make this a true, medium coverage. They ARE buildable, but it takes a little effort to layer them in a way that doesn't look cakey or too obvious. These go on very wet rather than creamy, which also takes some getting used to. This finish is very light, but it does help cover minor imperfections and offers a uniform finish. If you've already got nice looking skin, this may be ideal for you to help "even out the canvas". Now on to the things I am not too crazy about.... As stated before, this is a new formula. I wanted to love it. I just...well...don't. It's decent enough for the price point, but is definitely not the same Rimmel foundation and concealer I purchased faithfully. I don't really care for the watery, wet consistency, and I don't like the applicators. With the concealer, the applicator isn't that bad. The foundation? Well, that's a different story entirely. I don't care for the way this wand is built into the lid. This not only poses a risk of contamination, since bacteria from the face could very well breed in the bottle, it also makes applying even coverage a bit tricky. Overall, I would give these products 2.5/5 stars. I wanted to love them. I really did. But, like so many other Rimmel fans, I'd love to see the older formula make a comeback. Still, if you like a lighter, more buildable finish, definitely check these out and see if they're right for you. Every face and every taste is different, after all!
