HoneyBaked Ham Makes Holiday Meals Simple And Delicious Plus GIVEAWAY! #MC #Sponsored 12/2812/16/2013 ***Disclosure: I participated in an Influencer Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for HoneyBaked Ham. I received a gift card to facilitate my shopping trip and to thank me for participating.”*** Wow, can you believe that Christmas is less than 2 weeks away? I sure can't! It seems that this month has literally flown by! We've had a lot on our plate recently, between my illness and subsequent surgery, my husband's work-load being insane, and another family emergency....Not to mention that 5 million things I am desperately trying to catch up on here on the blog. (Who knew that being out of commission for about 2 weeks could be so incredibly stressful?!) While we're going to my Grandma's house for Christmas dinner, I always prepare a separate feast on Christmas Eve. This is something my family looks forward to every year, especially the kids. (Probably because we always allow them to open one gift after dinner.) Now you might think I am insane for saying this, but I hate turkey. I mean, I truly despise it. So much, in fact, that I usually end up eating fast food on Thanksgiving while the rest of my family eats traditional fare. So of course, our Christmas Eve dinner will not include turkey. (Blech!) This year, my family is in for a treat. We'll be having a delicious meal from HoneyBaked Ham! This is a brand that my family has loved for many years now. In fact, my Grandma and I were just talking about HoneyBaked Ham the other day, and she told me that she has been head over heels for their hams for the past 40 years or so. When they first arrived in her area, she purchased a spiral sliced ham for a special occasion, and she's been hooked ever since! Luckily, we won't have to go far to get our meal. There is a location just a couple minutes down the road, and they've always got the best main dishes, sides and desserts. They even offer catering and party trays for larger gatherings! No slaving away in the kitchen for hours and no messy pans to wash. They've got everything covered. All you need to do is heat and eat. Couldn't be easier, right?! Thinking about my Christmas Eve menu has had me drooling. I have been craving HoneyBaked Ham so badly, I decided we'd have 2 special meals this year. (Not that anyone is complaining, of course!) So yesterday, we took a trip to the HoneyBaked Ham location in Akron, Ohio to grab the fixings for a fantastic Sunday dinner. We chose a 3.75lb boneless ham, as well as 4 great sides: Green Bean Casserole, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Potatoes Au Gratin, and Broccoli Rice Casserole. Doesn't that sound like the perfect family meal this Holiday season? I will be honest, while I have been a fan of HoneyBaked Ham as long as I can remember, I had never tried their sides before. These sides come frozen, and all you need to do is follow the heating instructions and serve. I chose to use the conventional oven heating method, and the sides came out perfectly. The Broccoli and Rice Casserole was rich and cheesy, just the way I like it. The Garlic Mashed Potatoes were amazing, too. I love the fact that the folks at HoneyBaked Ham leave the skin on the potatoes. This gives them a great homemade feel, and a nice texture. The Potatoes Au Gratin was probably my favorite. The cheesy sauce is just fantastic, and has the perfect balance of flavors. I did add a sprinkling of Panko breadcrumbs to the top for added texture before baking. I just love having a little crunch with my Au Gratin Potatoes! The Green Bean Casserole was also a hit. Especially with my husband. The green beans were perfectly crisp-tender, and the savory sauce was the perfect complement. Add the crunchy onions to the top, and you've got a real winner! And of course, the ham....Oh, the ham. I had never tried one of the boneless hams from HoneyBaked Ham before, and I was delighted to find that this variety is just as tender and delicious as their bone-in varieties. We served the ham at room temperature, as recommended by HoneyBaked Ham, and it was perfect. The ham was beautifully seasoned and had the sweet, crunchy crust that HoneyBaked Hams are famous for. Overall, I would definitely recommend HoneyBaked Ham this Holiday season, and all year long, really. They have so many amazing meal options including hams, meatloaf, roasts, deli meats and cheeses, fresh deli salads, heat and eat sides, and even desserts. And yes, for those of you who enjoy turkey, they've got that, too. So if you find yourself overwhelmed by the many demands of the Holiday season, definitely let HoneyBaked Ham help take the pressure off. Their homestyle meals are delicious, simple to prepare, and are sure to be a hit. Whether it's a small, intimate meal for 2 or a huge feast for 30, HoneyBaked Ham has you covered.
