Holiday Gift Idea: Nickelodeon's Floam Factory

If your kids are anything like mine and millions of other kids around the world, they like things that are ooey-gooey, sticky and messy. You see, kids are very curious little creatures and they love exploring their senses in a very hands on manner. Whether it be making mud pies, splashing in a puddle of maple syrup, or even mixing corn starch and water to make Oobleck, kids love getting creative in interesting ways.

That's why the Nickelodeon Floam Factory is a great choice for Holiday gift giving this year. Floam has all of the appeal of anything gooey and messy, but without the tedious clean up. (Yep, this stuff is very easy to clean up after!) It's also completely non-toxic, so if a bit of Floam somehow happens to get in little mouths or noses, you won't need to rush to call the poison control center or head to the emergency room. Of course I wouldn't recommend allowing kids to eat their Floam, but as we all know, kids like to explore with their mouths on occasion.

So what is Floam, exactly? Well, it's a mixture of coloring, tiny foam balls, and a glue-like substance. It's pliable, moldable, and feels very squishy between tiny little fingers. The cool part is that while Floam can be stored and reused, you can also allow it to harden overnight to keep your kids' creations forever. Floam comes in a fun variety of vibrant colors and can be used to make anything under the sun. Heck, your little ones can even make the sun if they're so inclined!

A great way to maximize the Floam experience is to get the Floam Factory from Nickelodeon. This is a wonderful kit that includes molds, rollers, and more! This factory allows little ones to roll out their Floam, cut fun shapes, and even make flowers and other works of art. It's great for older kids, but even little ones like mine enjoy the Floam Factory!

Everything you need to get started with fun creations is included right inside the Floam Factory box. There's a Floam mat to keep things mess free, several rollers with different shapes and patterns, a spatula to cut and flatten the Floam, and a base where all of the fun takes place. There are even very easy to follow instructions that even little people will understand.

We assembled our Floam Factory in seconds. It's very easy and straightforward. I don't know about you, but I hate it when children's products are overly complicated to assemble and use. This is not only frustrating for kids, but for parents alike. Thankfully, setting up the Floam Factory was a breeze!

Once we had everything put together, we placed some pink Floam onto the bed of the Floam Factory. We then flattened it out using the spatula. This was a lot of fun, and my daughter Sophie did a great job!

Here's where the real fun starts! Once our Floam was laid out and ready to work with, I let the kids take over. They had a great time using the rollers to cut shapes and make patterns in the Floam.

This scalloped pattern seemed to be my toddlers' favorite roller. Sophie said it looked like a fishy! Probably because it does somewhat resemble scales on a fish. Thankfully, it sure didn't smell like a stinky fish!

Xander, my soon to be 2 year old, even got in on the action. Even at his age, he was able to use the roller and make shapes. He was so proud of himself, and it was nice to see my kids engaging in some creative play without any fighting.

Take a look at how much fun they're having with their Floam Factory! My kids are a bit small to be making any elaborate sculptures, but they still enjoy the feel of the Floam and cutting and molding it!

Overall, we love our Floam Factory. Even my preteen loves it! I think it's wonderful that my kids can explore their senses and use their imaginations in a way that doesn't leave me with an unmanageable mess to clean up. The Floam Factory is a great way to boost creativity and explore artistic abilities, even from a young age. This would be a fantastic gift for any child this Holiday season!

You can find Floam at Toys R Us and on Amazon. Don’t forget to connect with Floam on Facebook and on Twitter so that you can stay on top of their latest products and promotions!
