Licorice has been a family favorite for quite some time, and for good reason. These candies are chewy, fruity, and just plain delicious. And now, Newman's Own Organics have made this classic treat just a little bit greener with their mouth-watering line of Licorice Twists! That's right! These babies are completely organic, making indulging a guilt-free experience. Newman’s Own Organics introduces the first sour licorice twist made with organic ingredients. Licorice twists are the most popular kind of licorice candy and the organic sugar and sour crystals, derived from natural citrus sources, on the surface of the twists provides the special taste for the four tantalizing new flavors: Sour Strawberry, Sour Cherry, Sour Mango and Sour Apple. With the popularity of their regular twists in Black, Strawberry, and Pomegranate, the folks at Newman's Own Organics felt their customers would also enjoy the chance to try these sour ones that offer a different taste experience. I recently got the chance to try their new Sour Licorice Twists. My kids love anything sour, so they were quite excited about these new additions to the Newman's Own Organics line-up. We were especially looking forward to trying the Sour Strawberry and the Sour Mango flavors. Although the Sour Apple and Sour Cherry sounded quite tasty as well! Each package of Newman's Own Organics Licorice Twists is generously sized and made to be shared. Take a look at the tantalizing flavors! Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well. “Oz The Great and Powerful” is produced by Joe Roth and written by Mitchell Kapner and David Lindsay-Abaire (credit not final). Grant Curtis, Philip Steuer and Palak Patel are serving as executive producers. “Oz The Great and Powerful” opens in U.S. theaters on March 8, 2013. With so much concern about using plastic bags nowadays, more and more people are turning to a much greener alternative: Reusable shopping bags. I am sure you've seen them at your local grocery stores and super-centers near the checkout lines. They often feature the store's branding, and are usually not very attractive. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to carry around a reusable tote with a great big WalMart (or other store) logo on the front of it. I like my accessories, shopping bags included, to be attractive and fashion forward. That's why I was so happy to learn about the wide selection of shopping bags from reuseit.com! They literally have hundreds to choose from, and they're designed to last. These bags also come in a huge variety of styles, colors, and prints, so you're sure to find something that reflects your own personal fashion sense! The really great thing about these bags is that they come in many different shapes and sizes to fit all of your needs. You can certainly use them on shopping trips, but think of all of the other uses, such as book bags for library trips, beach bags, and so much more! Here are just a couple of the most popular designs available from reuseit.com: See that pretty blue house to the left? That, in just a few short weeks, will be our new home! We're very excited to be getting the heck out of the overly-expensive, non-friendly area we're in and heading north to my lovely home state of Ohio! We'll actually be living in the same town I grew up in, which is a great place for families. There are tons of parks, festivals, and activities, and our home is located within walking distance of all the fun! There is so much to look forward to....From finally having a nice, level yard for my kids and dogs to play in to my brand new Maytag kitchen appliances, (which over the next 4 months you'll become quite familiar with) we have found the perfect home. Our house has 4 bedrooms, a huge family room, and a beautiful formal living room complete with built-in bookshelves. (And I have about 5 million books!) It also features a great dining room, tons and tons of storage, and a gigantic unfinished basement. We'd like to finish the basement into usable living space, but that can be done over time. So while we have a lot to be ecstatic about, there is also a lot of stress right now. And of course, since my husband works long hours, I am the one in charge of setting everything up to go as smoothly as possible. I am trying to get moving estimates within our very limited budget, set up utilities, transfer all existing accounts to the new address, and get everything together to enroll my 12 year old in school as soon as we arrive in Ohio. I even have to try and negotiate calmly with an absolute sociopath, which is not fun. But I won't get into that. Those details don't need to be broadcasted here. So trying to do all of these things while taking care of 2 toddlers and a preteen, packing, and blogging has become quite overwhelming! So I apologize if I don't get back to all of you right away, or if I am a couple days late choosing winners for my giveaways. I have a lot on my plate right now, and only have a couple weeks to get everything done. As it stands, we have about 30 boxes packed and it hardly looks like a dent has been made! So for the next few weeks, I appreciate all of your patience and understanding. You guys are the best, and I promise to be back in full swing as soon as possible. Have any of you moved with little time to plan? Or maybe you've moved out of state? How did you manage the stress without totally having a nervous breakdown? Any tips to make things easier? I'd love to hear them! My kids have been Earth's Best babies from birth. Why? Because I care about giving them only the best nutrition possible. Many prepared baby foods are full of preservatives, chemicals, and even GMO's. I have a firm belief that if I cannot understand or pronounce everything in a product's list of ingredients, I do not want to feed it to my children. That's what makes Earth's Best Organic so wonderful. All of their products are made solely from pure, organic ingredients. No fillers, no preservatives, and no GMO's. Only organically grown fruits and veggies, just as nature intended. Now this is something that I, as a Mom, can feel good about! As a long time Earth's Best Blogger and customer, I have had the opportunity to try a wide variety of their products. When my babies were smaller, they loved the jarred baby foods. Now, as active toddlers, their tastes have changed. They love the Fruit & Yogurt Smoothies and the Sesame Street Crunchin' Crackers. They love the Cheddar flavor, and recently, I got the chance to try the brand new Veggie flavor. These are amazing and full of flavor, and contain Broccoli, Sweet Potato, and Carrots! While no one in my home has any apparent food allergies, I do try and incorporate allergy-friendly foods into our diets. You never know when an allergic reaction may crop up. This can happen out of the blue, and can be very dangerous. During playdates especially, I watch what I serve. You never know what other peoples' kids food tolerances are, and it's better to be safe than sorry. Therefore, I try and find kid-pleasing recipes that are compatible with all dietary needs. I also am trying to lose the last 20lbs of baby weight, so I am doing my best to eat as many gluten-free foods as possible. Carbs tend to be my worst enemy, and I have found that eating gluten-free alternatives don't cause me to balloon the way traditional products do. Of course my husband can eat a whole loaf of bread or a heaping plate of pasta and somehow not gain a single ounce. It must be a guy thing. (Yep, I am jealous!) That's why I was so excited to get the opportunity to review the great new cookbook from Kiwi Magazine. Allergy-Friendly Food for Families is the most trustworthy, comprehensive, practical, and kid-friendly collection of recipes that exists for the important and growing audience of allergy-aware families. Unlike other allergy cookbooks, this book covers not one or two allergens, but the five most common allergens in kids: wheat, dairy, eggs, nuts, and soy. Each of the 120 recipes is free of at least three of these allergens; most are free of all five. When parents are desperate for ideas for what to make for dinner (or lunch, or snack time), they want recipes from someone they trust, for food that tastes good, that doesn't require a lot of fancy ingredients, and that the whole family can eat. Allergy-Friendly Food for Families is the ultimate resource. From the three crucial mealtimes (breakfast, lunch, dinner) to the "fun" foods families can't live without (desserts, snacks, parties), parents are completely covered. Perhaps most importantly, all of these recipes are simple for parents to make. Recipes such as Carrot Cake Breakfast Cookies, Pear Yogurt Dunkers, Good-for-you Nachos, Polenta Mini Pizzas, Giant Cookie Cake, Veggie Bite Soup, and Cool Zucchini Noodles will make kids forget they have allergies. Parents will love the additional informational sections on spotting food allergies, stocking an allergy-free pantry, deciphering labels, and other frequently asked questions. Hey everyone! A new trailer is available for the upcoming Disney film, "The Odd Life Of Timothy Green"! This film is being released in theaters on August 15th, and looks like an awesome movie! I know we will be having family movie night once we get settled into our new home, and this film is a must-see in my opinion! Academy Award®–nominated director/writer Peter Hedges (“Dan in Real Life,” What’s Eating Gilbert Grape”) brings enchantment to the screen with “The Odd Life of Timothy Green.” It’s the inspiring, magical story of a happily married couple, Cindy and Jim Green (Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton), who can’t wait to start a family but can only dream about what their child would be like. When young Timothy (CJ Adams) shows up on their doorstep one stormy night, Cindy and Jim—and their small town of Stanleyville—learn that sometimes the unexpected can bring some of life’s greatest gifts. Disney presents “The Odd Life of Timothy Green,” with Ahmet Zappa, Scott Sanders and Jim Whitaker producing, story by Ahmet Zappa and screenplay by Peter Hedges. “The Odd Life of Timothy Green” is slated for release on August 15, 2012. Hello everyone! I know I missed last week's post, but we were in NE Ohio getting the home inspection and paperwork done on our new home! We had a great trip and cannot wait to move "home" in a few short weeks! Moving back to the Akron suburbs is something we have wanted to do for a long time now, and our dreams are finally coming true. The area is wonderful for families, and I can't wait for my kids to enjoy everything NE Ohio has to offer. We are buying a beautiful old home with plenty of room for the kids, and of course for some new Step2 indoor and outdoor toys. I have my eye on the Clubhouse Climber and the Adventure Lodge Play Center especially! I am so thrilled that we will finally have a big backyard for the kids to play in! Take a look at our yard! Of course, it needs a little work as far as the landscaping goes, but it's a nice space for the kids to have fun just being kids! Our new family room is also gigantic, so I plan to put the kids' Step2 LifeStyle Grand Walk-In Kitchen there so they can "cook" while we watch TV or relax! On our way to our new home, we passed by the Step2 HQ on the Ohio Turnpike! We were on the wrong side of the road, so my photo isn't the best, but here you can see the Step2 Store which is located in the front of the expansive Step2 facility! Check it out! I also have a couple great reader photos to share! It looks like many of you love the art and activity desks from Step2 as much as we do!
