Review of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker for the Nintendo 3DS #Partner

When I was a kid, my favorite gaming experiences all seem to have involved a little dude named Mario and his pals. Whether it was on our classic NES system, the SNES, Nintendo 64, or eventually Game Boy and Game Boy Color, I always loved to play any of the Super Mario Bros. games. 

My kids? Well, the games and systems are a bit more on the advanced side, but the kids all love Mario and friends just as much as I did. They have an advantage, though, since the Nintendo 3DS offers graphics that were the thing of dreams back in my day. 

Yep. According to the kiddos, I am an ancient relic, and it's a near miracle that I'm even still alive. 

Anyway, since Mario type games are always a huge hit, my kids were beyond thrilled when they received Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker for their Nintendo 3DS system. They also received an adorable Toad plushie that they now carry around literally everywhere.  

In this spirited game, Captain Toad stars in his own puzzling quest on the Nintendo 3DS family of systems! Our stubby hero must dodge dangers and track treasures across many trap-filled courses. Survive smoldering volcanoes, hazardous steam engines, haunted houses, and even courses based on the Super Mario Odyssey game! Watch them come to life in stereoscopic 3D using the touch-controlled game camera.

Super Gems and Power Stars are hidden across each puzzling course you’ll explore. As you reclaim the treasure stolen by the monstrous, greedy bird, Wingo, you’ll eventually be able to play as Toadette! These tiny heroes will have to waddle, hide, pluck, chuck, and power-up through enemy-infested locales like towers, wild-west shanties, and Goomba waterparks-all bursting with goodies to find and secrets to unearth. It’s all in the name of treasure! Aim your head-mounted flashlight at adventure!

My kids have had an absolute blast checking out Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, and they were more than happy to offer some feedback about the game. 

First, they both agree that there are lots of challenges and levels that keep the game interesting and fast paced. They can complete several in a short period of time, which helps keep their interest and curb frustration.

​They also said that the puzzle type challenges keep them thinking and on their toes, which is a plus. Any game that can keep my kids happy, engaged, and not trying to kill one another earns high marks in my book!

Overall, we're definitely loving the new Nintendo 3DS action offered in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. This fun, fast paced game offers classic Mario style entertainment with the added bonus of cool 3D graphics, puzzle games, and challenges. Oh! And of course, be sure to unlock and play as Toadette, too! 

If you love the Mario Bros. family of games as much as we do, definitely grab yourself a copy of this amazing game. It is sure to become a quick favorite, and may even become a lifesaver while on road trips this season! You know as well as I do that those backseat drivers can be brutal. Keep them occupied with Captain Toad and his adventures!
