In our home, gaming is serious business. While my 18 year old son and my husband prefer to play adult-themed games that are usually rated M, the littles play games that are a lot less graphic and a lot more age appropriate.

Some of our favorite, kid and parent approved games?

Nintendo Selects, of course!

Nintendo Selects is a collection of classic Nintendo games that fit any budget for owners of a Nintendo 3DS or 2DS system. Games include favorite characters like Kirby, Mario Bros., Donkey Kong, and even Link and Princess Zelda, just to name a few.

We received two of the most acclaimed Nintendo 3DS games of all time to join the Nintendo Selects library - Super Mario 3D Land and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.
As a kid of the 80s and 90s, some of my best childhood memories include playing both Super Mario Bros. and Zelda games with my little brother. We played these classics on our original NES, as well as on our Super NES, Nintendo 64, and even our Game Boys.

Wow. I really do feel ancient now!

Anyway. I was beyond delighted to see these classic, Nintendo characters remastered for my own kiddos to enjoy today. Some things just never go out of style, right?

We also received a Nintendo eShop gift card to download an additional, digital game. (The kids chose Mario & Luigi Dream Team, as you can see above.) This download was quick and easy, and within minutes, the kids were ready to play yet another Nintendo classic.

Who doesn't love Mario & Luigi, after all?

Sophie and Xander have been having an absolute blast playing their classic, Nintendo Selects games on their Nintendo 3DS systems.

They both are already huge fans of both Super Mario Bros. and Zelda games, so they couldn't wait to try out these games. This did actually include some light-hearted ribbing about how old their Mommy and Daddy must be if we got to play the ORIGINAL Super Mario Bros. when it was brand new.

After the kids headed to bed, I'd be lying if I said that Dan and I haven't borrowed the kids' 3DS systems so we, too, could bring back memories and check out these fantastic retro-style games from the Nintendo Selects line.

I love being able to share this gaming tradition with my own kids. It gives us something else to bond over, and let's face it: The family that plays together, stays together.

The best part? These games are all extremely budget friendly at around $19.99MSRP each!
