Some may not know this about me, but in addition to being a blogger, a wife, and a mother, I am also an activist. Yes, I attend peaceful protests-NOT riots, I volunteered hundreds of hours between 2 different Presidential campaigns this year, and I am that person who isn't scared to call or write to our elected officials to express my feelings, positive or otherwise. 

I have many causes I support, from LGBTQ rights, racial, social, and economic equality, and of course, the protection of our planet and the environment. Needless to say, this is a constant, uphill battle, and one I will continue to fight for the future of my children and their children.

Recently, we were given to opportunity to check out an outfit from prAna for ourselves. Instead of keeping this outfit for myself, I will be gifting it to an activist friend, who is on her way to Standing Rock in North Dakota in a couple of weeks. Our prAna order arrived very quickly, and was well-packaged, suitable for gifting. The Stacia Sweater even came with a cute, rattan bow! 

The first thing I noticed about these garments is that they are incredibly well made. Both the sweater and the pants are made from the highest quality, organic cotton. I love the classic, timeless designs. These pieces won't quickly go out of style, which is something that makes prAna so special. These pieces are bound to become wardrobe staples for my pal, even long after she returns home from Standing Rock. 

The Stacia Sweater is a thinner weight, but has a generous fit. This makes it perfect for layering with a collared, dress shirt, or with thermals underneath. It's a soft, organic cotton, and features a very subtle print. This also has a wide neckline and Dolman sleeves, making it totally comfortable. I need to get one for myself, preferably in their stunning Harbor Blue color! Or maybe the lush Grapevine shade...Hmmm...

Anyway, the Crossing Cord Pants are equally awesomesauce, and will be absolutely perfect for long days on the front lines. They are made from a soft, premium organic cotton, but have a wee bit of stretch for a comfortable fit. They are mid-rise, which is super nice for we ladies who don't want a super-low rise, and they offer a comfortable, straight leg.

​I also love the detail in these pants. Look at that gorgeous, printed inner band. WOW! Even the button is beautiful in design. I love it when companies make the extra effort and pay attention to small details like this. 

Overall, I think that my North Dakota bound friend will fall in love with the prAna outfit I'm gifting her with before she leaves town. Not only are these items made from eco-friendly, sustainable materials, they are also durable, versatile, and made by a brand who takes environmental and social responsibility seriously, and give back to the communities they serve.
