Win Your Gifts Sponsor Spotlight And EARLY ENTRIES: Diggin Active Pink Skuut Balance Bike10/31/2011 ![]() I am super excited about my next sponsor for the upcoming Win Your Gifts Pre-Holiday Hop! Diggin Active is an amazing company that offers a ton of great, unique toys that have one major focus: Keeping kids active! In today's world, it is so easy for kids to get out of shape. Look at all of the video games, TV programs, and other toys that don't require any sort of real activity. In an increasingly digital world, kids just aren't getting out to play nearly as much as they should be. More physical games have taken a backseat to a game controller. Diggin Active wants to help reverse this trend, and they have a wide variety of fantastic toys and games for kids of all ages that promote physical activity. One of my favorite Diggin Active products include their Jumpsmart Trampoline, which is a personal sized trampoline with a safety bar that the child can hold onto as they bounce, making for a hopping fun time either indoors or out! As the mom of a preteen as well as babies, I also love their Black Max Football and their Pop Out Bowling, Horseshoes and Ring Toss games. These fun, classic games are designed specifically with kids in mind and are brightly colored and highly portable for on the go fun! I can see myself taking any of these great products to the park for a fun-filled family picnic! While Diggin Active has school aged kids covered with a huge selection of active toys and games, they have also created some great products for those younger kids out there who may not be quite ready to throw a football around just yet. Their Rock N Rolla line features friendly animals that can be used as a soft rocker as well as a ride on toy with the simple addition of wheels! This is a great gift idea for older babies and toddlers. My favorite is the Moo Cow! Another great offering for those tiny tikes is the Skuut Balance Bike. The Skuut Balance Bike is a wooden balance bike for children ages 2 to 5. It has no pedals and no training wheels. Children kick off the ground as if running, thus pushing or "skuuting" themselves and the bike forward. The Skuut™ is perfect for learning balance, steering, coordination and independence. Having mastered balance on the Skuut™, the transition to a traditional two wheeler bike is easy. This is perfect for my toddler daughter, as she is always on the go! We received the new, Pink Skuut for review. It arrived quickly and was very well packaged. The Skuut does require some adult assembly, but it was very easy for my husband to put together. As a matter of fact the only required assembly was attaching the seat and the handlebars to the bike. I love it when a company makes the parents' job so quick and painless! He had the Skuut fully assembled and ready to ride within 5 minutes! The Skuut was designed to be easily adjusted to grow with your child. The seat can be adjusted from around 13.5" ,the right size for a typical 2 year old, to 16.5", which is ideal for most 5 year olds. The Skuut is also easy for kids to learn, and helps form essential balance and coordination. Sitting on the Skuut, kids first walk the bike forward. As they go faster, they stride with feet off the ground for longer and longer periods of time, ultimately being able to pull both feet off the ground and coast. At first they tilt to one side or the other and their feet catch them like training wheels or a tripod would. Very quickly balance becomes second nature and they can coast for yards with their feet off the ground. Braking is done Fred Flintstone style: just put your feet down and stop. It doesn't get much easier than that, and there are no pedals or chains to scrape tiny hands and feet! Sophie, my toddler, loves the Skuut. Her eyes lit up when she saw this adorable balance bike, and she was very eager to hop right on and give it a shot. Now Sophie is a petite gal, and while her feet do touch the ground on the smallest setting, she doesn't have a very firm grip just yet. But like I said, Sophie is tiny. Dan and I are not tall people, so the poor kid is vertically challenged and is significantly shorter than a lot of kids her age. She still fits into some 12 month clothing! So while she is not quite tall enough to ride the Skuut all alone, she does just fine with some adult assistance. She loves holding on to the handlebars and pushing off of the ground with her little toes. She has amazingly good balance already, and hasn't wobbled a bit! She is having a blast practicing, and once she gains an inch or so of height, I think she'll be a Skuuting fool! Take a look! Overall, we are totally digging the Skuut Balance Bike from Diggin Active. This little gem of a bike is not just absolutely gorgeous, it is also very sturdy, well made, and quite durable. I love the classic look of this wooden bike, and I also love that it has no sharp edges or chains for little fingers to get hung up in. I am sure the Skuut will be able to withstand years of use (and abuse) from my very active toddler! I love the whole premise of balance bikes, and I am confident that due to skuuting, Sophie will be ready for a "big girl bike" long before her peers. Oh! Another very cool thing about the Skuut Balance Bike? For every Skuut purchased, Diggin Active will plant a tree! So by choosing the Skuut Balance Bike, not only are you giving your tot the coolest toy ever, you're also doing your part to help the environment. How cool is that?! BUY IT: You can check out this and many other awesome, active toys on the Diggin Active website. The Skuut even has it's own website you can check out, too! You can also follow Diggin Active on Facebook and on twitter to stay on top of their latest products and promotions! WIN IT...BUY NOT YET! I think this bike is a great idea especially for all the coordination development and easy transition to a 2 wheel bike.
