You see, my whole childhood...My whole life, actually, I generally wouldn't eat turkey for Thanksgiving. I would either eat nothing but dinner rolls and mashed potatoes, or I'd get fast food before the meal. (I still do this, especially on Thanksgiving.) Yep. We're a bunch of weird people who dislike turkey. (I don't like onions, pumpkin pie, stuffing or cranberries, either, but who's counting my weird food quirks?) Some of my favorite childhood memories were when we'd head to my favorite Grandma's house for Holidays. She doesn't like turkey, either, so we'd always end up eating either her amazing, homemade lasagna or a nice, juicy ham. But my Grandma didn't serve just any old ham. No, siree. She would serve the delectable, juicy ham that only the folks at HoneyBaked Ham can provide. This is a brand that my family has loved for many years now. In fact, my Grandma and I were just talking about HoneyBaked Ham, and she told me that she has been head over heels for their hams for the past 40 years or so. When they first arrived in her area, she purchased a spiral sliced ham for a special occasion, and she's been hooked ever since! So since Easter is just a few short weeks away, of course we will be having our favorite HoneyBaked Ham for dinner. It will be a hectic day, and I honestly probably won't feel like cooking by the time we get home from our planned Holiday activities. We have a huge family brunch we've been invited to with cousins, aunts and uncles, and my Papa who is 93 and still quite active. We will also be having a fun Easter egg hunt for the kiddos. Needless to say, by the time we get back, I am not going to feel like cooking a huge Easter feast from scratch. Luckily, I have a secret weapon, or Mommy's Helper, should I say. (HoneyBaked Ham always helps me save the day!) We won't have to go far to get our meal, either. The Chapel Hill location is just a couple of minutes down the road, and they've always got the best main dishes, sides and desserts. They even offer catering and party trays for larger gatherings! No slaving away in the kitchen for hours and no messy pans to wash. They've got everything covered. All you need to do is heat and eat. Couldn't be easier, right?! The other day, I wanted to give my kids an Easter-Teaser. Actually, I just wanted some amazing HoneyBaked Ham and their scrumptious sides, and I didn't feel like waiting. Anyway, we headed over to HoneyBaked Ham and picked up some goodies for a pre-Easter meal. I chose their oh-so-yummy Spiral Sliced Boneless Half Ham, since it's an amazing value and feeds a lot of hungry people. Not to mention, there's no big bone to slice around or the dogs to frantically beg for, which are always added bonuses. In addition to the ham, we picked up some of HoneyBaked Ham's fantastic side dishes. Each location offers a variety of both frozen and fresh deli sides. These can vary some by location, so definitely be sure to check out what goodies are available at your local store. We chose some creamy, cheesy Macaroni and Cheese, the velvety, flavorful Garlic Mashed Potatoes, some sinful Baked Beans, and of course, some Cinnamon Apple Slices for some sweetness. As always, our HoneyBaked meal was superb. Outstanding. A flavor explosion in our mouths. The ham was succulent, juicy, and had the delicious, sweet and spicy crust that these hams are famous for. This ham is the best I've ever had, and I sure do love my ham, so that's saying a lot! The sides were also wonderful. The Macaroni and Cheese has a very creamy, rich sauce that has the perfect amount of cheesy goodness. The Garlic Mashed Potatoes are buttery, silken in texture with a few smaller chunks to make them more interesting, and the baked beans are to die for. In fact, I love these baked beans above all others because they have large chunks of HoneyBaked Ham's thick bacon...Yep. I just said bacon. Are you drooling yet? I can pass you a napkin if you need one! While this ham is certainly good enough to stand on its own, paired with a heaping plateful of sides, it's also great in sandwiches. I actually made my own sandwich using a couple slices of ham, some Havarti cheese, Romaine lettuce, and HoneyBaked Ham's addictive Honey Mustard Mayonnaise. I even use leftover ham in my almost-famous Baked Potato Soup! (You can grab that recipe HERE. You're welcome! No really...If you happen to try it, I guarantee you will thank me!) So if you're like me and want to serve memorable Holiday meals that don't require the skills of Bobby Flay, definitely check out what HoneyBaked Ham has to offer when planning your Easter meals. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the amazing quality of their food, as well as by the fact that you won't have to scrub countless pots and pans afterwards. You know. Because after a feast like this, your belly might be too full to want to move! Honey Baked Ham is always good and tender. I've baked many hams in my life, but I am not always pleased with the way they turn out. I prefer to just buy Honey Baked and not worry. The turkey breast at Honey Baked Ham is very good for people in my family who don't eat ham and the sides are a nice addition.
