We Had A Blast At The IX Center Trick or Treat Street In Cleveland!

It's now officially November, and Halloween has passed. But I wanted to share our Halloween adventures with you all. Here in North-Eastern Ohio, the weather leading up to Halloween was awful, thanks to a certain little storm by the name of Sandy.

In my town, Trick or Treating took place before Halloween, during the weekend. It was bitterly cold, insanely windy, and pouring down rain. Many kids, including my preteen, braved the horrible weather to get some candy. I suppose ghoulish costumes and chocolate by the ton acts as a pretty good motivator!

We decided against taking 2 small toddlers out during this bad weather, and opted to go to the I-X Center Trick or Treat Street, instead! This event took place at Cleveland's I-X Center. This is a HUGE expo center that hosts tons of great events throughout the year, and this one was all about the kids! Trick or Treat Street was held on a couple of weekends, including the weekend of the 26-28th of October. The only time we were able to go was the 28th, due to work schedules.

We headed out to the I-X Center on a very cold, rainy Sunday. The winds were awful, traffic was bad, and the roads were more than a little bit hazardous. It took us about an hour to get there from the Akron suburbs, so we made pretty good time, all things considered. Parking was $8.00, and the lot was surprisingly packed for such a dreary day. I guess a lot of parents were taking advantage of the fact that Halloween could be experienced indoors this year!

Nasty, nasty day.
We brought our double stroller to make navigating the event easier. Sophie and Xander were all dressed up in their costumes, and were quite excited when they saw all of the other kids, the rides, and the various vendors at the event. The first thing we decided to do was take a stroll through Trick or Treet Street. This is a special, spooky area that was separate from the main space. Here, there were 12 dedicated candy stations where kids would fill their goody bags while being treated to lots of scary exhibits like witches, a huge skeleton, and more! Take a look!

I wonder what she's brewing up? Is it a trick, or is it a treat?

I wouldn't want to run into him in a dark alley!

Among the frights, there were plenty of smiling faces handing out candy!

Sophie and Xander each got a full bag of treats!
After our journey down Trick or Treat Street, it was time to have some fun. The event had tons of games, rides, and attractions that families could enjoy. We spent a little while walking around checking everything out. The kids seemed to love all of the bright colors, the rides, and seeing other kids all decked out in their Halloween costumes.

So much fun packed in this great event.

An old fashioned carousel was very popular among families
One of the coolest things at Cleveland's I-X Center is the HUGE ferris wheel. This is so tall that the roof is actually built around it! The top of the ferris wheel is enclosed in glass, so as you reach the top, you get a great view of Cleveland. You might even see some airplanes departing Johns Hopkins Airport up close and personal!

Speaking of rides, Sophie got to enjoy quite a few of them. With her cowgirl boots and princess tiara, she was just barely 36" tall, which was enough to enjoy over half of the rides and attractions. Xander, on the other hand, was still too small to really do much. He was not at all happy about this fact, and got a bit angry.

Sophie's favorite ride was this spider-like ride. The kids sit in seats suspended by chains, and the spider's legs rotate quickly, giving riders quite a thrill! I was surprised that Sophie wasn't afraid of this. She is a little daredevil, though, so she loved it!

As it started moving, Sophie was all smiles!

Hold on tight!
Another ride she really enjoyed were the race cars. She sat up front and steered the car as it raced around the track. She liked this ride so much that when it was time to get off, she pouted and tried to get back into another car!

Faster, faster!
Another awesome attraction was the 3D Mystery Manor. This is a haunted house that is full of crazy optical illusions and special effects. Visitors receive a pair of 3D glasses and it makes everything appear be be reaching out to them. Dan took Sophie in, and she loved it...Until the very end. There was a tunnel of light that gave the illusion of spinning, and she got very afraid!

After we checked out all of the rides, we looked at some of the vendors at the event. There were stuffed animals, sweet treats, face painting, pumpkin carving and even homemade dog biscuits! We ended up buying the kids a light-saber toy and a pink sequined fedora that was just my Sophie's style.

I love the monkeys hanging to the far left!

The caricatures were fun to watch!

They even had pillow pets!

And fun inflatable toys. We skipped getting these cause my kids would just beat eachother to death with them!
There were also quite a few food vendors at the event. There were burgers and hot dogs, Gyros, nachos, pizza, and even some yummy baked goods!

By the time we left, the kids were all tuckered out and ready to go home. See how sleepy they look?

Overall, we had a great time at the I-X Trick or Treat Street. I am glad we braved the elements to take our kids there this Halloween! The rides were a lot of fun, the employees were friendly, and they even had special appearances by much loved characters. Sophie and Xander got to meet a Care Bear! There was a lot to see and do, and we definitely enjoyed ourselves. We look forward to returning next year. Hopefully by then, Xander will be tall enough to join his big sister on the rides!
