***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my review. No other compensation was provided, and all opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.*** It's that time of year again! Even though the weather is still gorgeous and swimming pools are still open for business, fall is approaching rather quickly. For some, that means sending kids back to school. My younger kids aren't in school yet, but their teenage brother is heading off to high school this year. How the heck did that even happen?! How am I the mother of a high-schooler?! I'm not THAT old! Of course with fall right around the corner, there are back to school clothes and shoes that need to be purchased. I don't know about you, but I tend to choose higher-quality apparel for my kids, especially when it comes to their shoes. My kids are super-active, and go through cheap shoes in no time flat. So this mama looks for shoes that are not only stylish, but are built to withstand the use and often abuse of a couple of crazy kids like mine. One of my favorite brands of kids' footwear would have to be Umi Children's Shoes. This company offers styles that are trendy, fun, and totally kid-friendly. They use premium materials and innovative designs, which makes their shoes truly stand out in a crowd. Oh, and these babies are durable and are definitely made to last. About Umi Children's Shoes : Umi hand crafts children's shoes that walk through the meltdowns and major milestones with style. Umi selects only the best patterns plus the highest quality leathers and materials to keep them a step above everyone else. Umi obsesses about fit to ensure that every shoe with the Umi name gives that little love some room to grow. Umi is also dedicated to helping the environment. At Umi, they understand the importance of picking up after yourself—after all, this is the only world we've got. Every shoe they make uses child-safe materials, like non-toxic drum-dyed leathers and other environmentally friendly materials, and goes through a series of strict quality and safety tests. Always protected in recycled packaging, Umi's a brand that believes going green isn't just a trend, it's our responsibility. When you're a kid, every moment counts. So Umi makes their shoes for much more than walking. All along the way, from design to manufacturing, they focus on all the little details—like patterns and footbeds—that'll make sure your Umis deliver the quality, comfort and style they've always promised. The folks at Umi are just real people who love making kids' shoes that'll last through all the wear and tear of growing up. Our Fall/Winter 2014 Review : We received shoes for both Sophie and Xander from the Umi Fall/Winter 2014 line. For Sophie, we chose what she likes to call "rock star boots." For Xander, who seems to be obsessed with Elvis recently, we chose a pair of adorable blue suede boots with contrasting green trim. Sophie, my 4 year old, absolutely loves her Rhian boots. These edgy boots are made from waterproof materials, and they are just about knee-height on my petite 4 year old. (They are just below her knees.) I love the fact that her feet don't get wet while wearing these, even if she does decide to hop through puddles galore! These boots also feature a sassy, chunky heel, a zipper-closure, and a buckle embellishment. As you can see, these boots are completely fabulous, and would be great for any girls who have a bit of attitude, like my Sophie! My 3 year old, Xander, has a bit of an old-time rock and roll obsession. Ever since we visited the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum last month, he has been completely fascinated with Elvis. So naturally, when it came to choosing shoes for my little man, he wanted blue suede shoes. The Hectorr in Navy/Green is the perfect low-profile boot for fall. They're made of a super-soft leather, and also have a very durable rubber sole. As you can see, these boots make quite the statement with their monochromatic design. The pop of color on the soles and laces really make these boots stand out! Sophie may not be starting school yet, but she's definitely the coolest chick on the playground. She loves pairing her Rhian boots with skinny jeans, a colorful tee and her favorite hot pink cardigan. Of course she HAS to wear her "Bruno Hat", too. She wears that sparkly gold fedora every moment of every day, lately! I just love this look on her! She looks like a mini-fashionista! Xander is equally happy with his Hectorr boots. He doesn't care about fashion as much as his sister does, so he wanted to wear a simple, striped henley and some relaxed fit jeans. He looks like a little boy who is ready to play, doesn't he? The nice thing about the Hectorr boots is that they're quite versatile. You can wear them with jeans, or dress them up for a more formal occasion. You can also dress up the Rhian boots by pairing them with a cute skirt and top or even a flowy fall dress. So if you're looking for stylish and durable shoes for your little ones this back to school season, definitely check out Umi Children's Shoes. They have so many fun styles for both boys and girls, and these shoes are amazing in quality and are built to last! We've been Umi fans for quite some time, and I can tell you that the kids outgrow these shoes long before they wear out. Yep. They're pretty darn awesome, and worth every penny! How to Connect : You can check out the awesomeness that is Umi Children's Shoes on their website.
