![]() Babies grow so quickly...One day, you're bringing them home from the hospital and the next thing you know, they're walking, talking, and claiming that everything under the sun is "MINE!" Yep, sweet, snuggly babies turn into toddlers in what seems like a blink of an eye. As the mom of not one, but TWO rambunctious toddlers, I know all about making the transition from infant to holy terror ...Oops, I mean toddler. Nap schedules change, attitudes change, and even the food changes! If you're like me, you probably stock up on pureed baby foods. I have a whole dedicated "baby pantry" where I keep all of my kids' foods, snacks, and smoothies. When my youngest son, Xander, started walking, talking, and grabbing at "grown-up" foods with great interest, I realized my baby was no longer a baby. He, like his slightly older sister, is a full-fledged toddler! So what to do with all of those baby foods and purees? Sure, I could have donated them or given them away. Instead, I chose to find new ways to incorporate these foods into my kids' meals in a fresh, toddler-friendly way. It's actually pretty simple. All it takes is a little bit of creativity! Here are a couple of great recipes from the folks at Earth's Best that take those leftover jars of baby food and transform them into dishes even the pickiest of toddlers are sure to love! Creamy Carrot Soup:
1 cup water 1 medium potato, peeled and diced 1/4 cup chopped onion 1 pat of butter 2 jars Earth's Best 2nd Foods Carrots 1 cup Earth's Best Kidz 2% Reduced Fat Milk Sautee the onion in the butter. Add water and potato. Cover and bring to a boil, cooking until tender, about 15 minutes. Puree the mixture in a blender or food processor. Return to the pan. Add the carrot puree and the milk. Heat slowly on low heat. Season as desired with ginger, cinnamon, or dill. Banana Bread Sticks: 1 cup Arrowhead Mills Organic Stone Ground Whole Wheat Flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. Salt 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup Spectrum Canola Oil 2 beaten eggs 2 jars Earth's Best 2nd Foods Bananas My kids love these revamped recipes! Especially the banana bread sticks! As a mom, I love being able to be able to offer my babies' the Earth's Best nutrition they're used to in fun ways that are geared towards their new, more mature palates. Toddlers can sure be difficult to please, but with Earth's Best, I can always find something that they love! ***Disclosure: As an Earth's Best Blogger, I receive occasional products and information to facilitate my posts.
