Here in the United States, most of us don't have to give a second thought to how we're going to feed our kids everyday. We live in a land of abundance where food is always available and bellies are full each day. Sadly, this is not the case in other parts of the world. In many developing countries, families go hungry and parents are not able to provide adequate nutrition for their children.
Did you know that in Bolivia, 40% of parents struggle every day to provide their children's most basic food needs. Over 2/3 of this country lives in poverty, and the majority of their children don't get the daily minimum recommended caloric intake and are suffering from nutritional deficiencies and other related illnesses.
In addition to lacking proper meals, many families only have very primitive cooking stoves to prepare their meals. This is very unsafe for the community, as smoke exposure can cause serious illnesses. Isn't that heartbreaking?!
Thankfully, the folks at Truvía® are working with the World Food Program USA to provide these Bolivian children and families with a sweeter future.
So far through the Truvía® Sharing a Sweet Future campaign, over 34,705 Bolivian children are receiving 2 nutritionally balanced school meals every single day. Bolivian locals have also received 68 brand new, safer cooking stoves which are fuel efficient. This allows another 3,574 students to eat hot cooked meals at home as well. The amazing part? $1 feeds 4 kids.
Aren't these efforts amazing?! You can help make a difference, too! That's right...Truvía® has created a video campaign and you can help get the word out simply by sharing these inspirational videos and using the hashtag: #SweetFuture on Facebook and twitter. Here is an example video:
Are you in?! I know I am! I love the fact that the folks at Truvía® have a great big heart and care about our global community. Here's more info on how you can get involved and help give the children in Bolivia a #SweetFuture:
