***Disclosure: I received both the John Deere Whistle & Go Puppy and the John Deere First Animals Puzzle in exchange for my review and giveaway post from TOMY. No other compensation was exchanged or received. The above opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.***
My toddlers, like most small children, love animals. We have a zoo of our own with both cats and dogs, but they also really like farm animals. Sadly, we don't live in farm country, so all of their interactions with horses, pigs, cows and chickens are through toys or television. I need to see if we have any farms within a couple hours of us that allow kids to pet the animals. Perhaps Amish Country does this? Hmm...I will need to check and potentially plan a trip!
Anyway, since my kids have such a love for animals big and small, I was very excited to learn that TOMY has teamed up with John Deere to offer some adorable, animal-themed preschool toys. My kids are 2 and 3 years old, so these are right up their alley!
We received a couple of these awesome toys to check out for ourselves. When the John Deere First Animal Puzzle and the Whistle and Go Puppy arrived, my kids were absolutely thrilled. Not only do these feature farm animals, which they love, there is also the adorable brown and white spotted pup! How stinking cute are these?!
Whistle and Go Puppy :
The John Deere Whistle & Go Puppy retails at $19.99 and is recommended for children ages two and up. Both my 3 year old and my 2 year old really love this cute little guy.
Along with the puppy comes a whistle. This is made of heavy duty plastic and is large enough that it does not pose a choking hazard to preschool aged kids. The really cool thing about this puppy is that he comes when you whistle for him, just like the name suggests. One blow and he trots forward. Two quick blows and he spins around and moves backwards. Whistle again, and he stops in his tracks. One of the things I find the most endearing is the fact that his little ears flap with excitement as he runs.
The only problem? My cat, Pringles, is absolutely terrified of him and attacks him. Okay, so it's not really a problem, per se....We all think it's hysterical, kids included.
The Whistle & Go Puppy requires two AA batteries, which are not included. The puppy features an on-off switch, which helps preserve battery life and a parent's sanity!
Check out Xander blowing the whistle! I think the kids like the whistle alone as much as the puppy! They love running around blowing it over and over and over again.
John Deere First Animal Puzzle :
This puzzle is not only great for hand-eye coordination and problem solving, it also helps to teach counting. The panels flip over, and 3 different pictures can be made: 1 Dog, 2 Horses, and 3 Pigs. (You know...Like the 3 little pigs? Coincidence? I think not!)
It also have a very durable casing and handles that are the perfect size for little hands. It's really portable, and we have allowed the kids to enjoy it in the car on road trips. Here's Sophie playing with the puzzle. She is able to make all 3 pictures with very little effort, and she is so proud of herself!
Overall, we are really enjoying the John Deere Preschool Toys from TOMY. They're very kid-friendly and durable, and they keep kids engaged and learning. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who loves animals, loves John Deere, or both!
