As a family of 5, we often have to deal with misplacing things. My 11 year old even dropped his mp3 player in a friend's yard and forgot about it! Not to mention my wonderful but often forgetful husband losing things. Add an infant and a toddler to the mix, and that's a lot of personal belongings that can potentially get lost! Whether it be wallets, purses, electronics, favorite toys, or even the dog, we have a lot of things that can (and have) end up missing. Rather than super-glue all of the above mentioned items to their rightful owners, which has been tempting at times, I use a wonderful service called FoundIt!
What is FoundIt!, and how does it work? It's actually very simple. When you sign up for this service, you will be sent a series of labels and tags that you can affix to all of your valued possessions. This is especially great for back to school, since kids will have new lunch boxes, computers, calculators and bags that can get left in a number of different places. Kids often misplace things when their routines are changed, and back to school is right around the corner! I remember I once left my backpack on the bus, and it took me over a week to have it returned to me! This did not go over too well with my Language Arts teacher, as I had an essay in my bag that ended up being grossly overdue. If I had FoundIt! available at that time, all the finder would have to do is log onto the FoundIt website and report my item found, using a special, personalized ID number found on each and every label. You can even report found items by text message!
Once FoundIt! receives word that your items have been found, you will be notified within seconds via e-mail or text message, and you can be reunited with your lost item. No personal info is ever visible, and your family can rest assured that this private information will never be made available to anyone. This is a MUCH better option than putting labels with your phone number or address on your belongings, as this can make your family vulnerable to an array of not-so-nice occurrences by not-so-nice people. With FoundIt!, this risk is completely non-existent. Your private info remains private, and your belongings will make it home, safe and sound!
I received the MacDaddy Package for my review, and I have to say, I have been absolutely thrilled with this service. First of all, the MacDaddy package will track your belongings for a whopping 4 YEARS! Can you imagine how many things your family can misplace in a 4 year period? Statistics show that an alarming 56% of us will lose or misplace our phones once a month. 164,383 phones will be lost, stolen, or damaged today in the U.S. And even more alarming? 70% of items that are turned into lost and found are NEVER claimed. That is a TON of lost items that sadly will never make it home to their rightful owners! With FoundIt!, you have a much better chance of recovering your lost items, eliminating the financial and emotional burdens associated with losing your valuables!
Signing up for FoundIt! was easy. All I had to do was provide the service with my address, e-mail address, and phone number. That's it! They then assigned me with my own unique identification number, and sent their MacDaddy package to me in the mail. It arrived with lightning speed, and ready to attach to all of my family's belongings.
There were a large number of different sized labels, as well as waterproof, laminated luggage or purse tags. They even feature cute sayings that will encourage the finder to return the lost item, such as "Help! My owner is locked out!" I put these labels on everything from cameras, keyrings, diaper bags, mp3 players, my purse, and my husband even put the credit-card sized tag in his wallet. My son even insisted on putting a small tag on his dog's collar just in case she decides to escape the yard while trying to chase down an unsuspecting woodland critter! So as you can see, FoundIt! can be used in so many ways!
Overall, I think this service is absolutely fantastic and long overdue! This safely and anonymously makes sure that even if misplaced, my family's possessions have a good chance at being recovered without revealing our personally identifying information. As a mom, this gives me peace of mind. I know I can't afford to just replace expensive electronics should they go missing, and now I don't have to be terrified to let them leave the house with my forgetful husband and son. If they happen to get lost, being found is just a text message or e-mail away! And if you move, you can easily update your contact info on the FoundIt! website. And this service is super affordable, too! So really, there's nothing to lose by signing up. What can you gain by becoming a member of FoundIt!? Well, peace of mind for one...But more importantly, you regain all of those lost items! FoundIt! makes it so easy for finder and loser alike! I would definitely recommend this service for families, or anyone with stuff. Which pretty much makes that EVERYONE! And they even offer a variety of different package options so you can fully customize the service to meet your individual needs.
