Do the little ones in your life love to read? I know mine do. Or at least snuggle up and listen to Mommy and Daddy read them stories every day. I was a bit of a bookworm as a child...still am, truth be told. I was always that kid on the playground who would sit on the benches under the towering Oak trees with her nose buried in a book. When I would read, the rest of the world would literally disappear...At least until the bell sounded to signal the end of recess!
So of course, I want my children to be swept away into magical worlds and bygone eras through the joys of reading. So we get them lots and lots of books! With so many books in our home, we need to find creative ways to store them so they remain accessible to our kids at all times. A conventional bookshelf isn't ideal, since only the spine of the books are visible. This doesn't allow a young child who may not know how to read well to choose a book with ease.
Thankfully, this is where Tidy Books comes to the rescue! Tidy Books is an awesome, UK based company that specializes in sensible, durable, and most importantly, KID-FRIENDLY book storage. They offer several great products that will suit any living space. There are bookcases, wall shelves, and even adorable book boxes like the one below!
About Tidy Books :
Tidy Books is an independent company, established in 2004, by company founder, Geraldine Grandidier who created the first Tidy Books Children’s Bookcase for her daughter.
Their designs for children are original and practical ideas to make books a natural part of your child’s world, planting a love of reading. Tidy Books offers child-centred storage designs that give your children a space that is theirs to own, building their sense of independence.
Tidy Books doesn't make products for anyone else, so their innovative designs are unique. Built with an eye to becoming your family’s heirloom, Tidy Books’ designs are built to last and will adapt as your family grows up.
Tidy Books aims to tread lightly on the planet; their products are made from sustainable sources and finished in an environmentally friendly Water Lacquer . They also contribute to a very worthy charity, Save the Children too.
Our Tidy Books Storage Box Review :
We already love our Tidy Books Bookcase and Bunk Bed Buddy, but we were especially excited about the Tidy Books Storage Box. You see, while the other Tidy Books products are amazing to have in your home, they're not exactly portable. This book box, however, is!
When our Tidy Books Storage Box arrived, it was very well packaged. It does require some assembly, but it's quick and easy. My husband had ours ready to rock in just a couple of minutes.
As you can see, this large storage box comes equipped with an easy-carry handle, and features generously sized book slots or shelves on both sides. This box will hold up to 40 books or magazines or varying shapes and sizes. It really is very roomy, and even holds those extra large Disney story collections with ease!
Another great feature of this box is this great children's clock. Of course it's not an actual clock. It has no mechanical inner-workings and does not keep the time. It's actually a teaching tool so little ones can learn to tell the time, or it can help kids know when it's reading time!
This clock is removable, by the way. So when little ones outgrow the clock, they can simply take it off and use this box as a magazine or book rack. It's really quite pleasing to the eye, and is not an obvious children's product with the clock taken off.
As you can see, this box will hold a good number of books. I didn't pack it to the hilt, but I have added several books of varying shapes and sizes. I made it a point to add our heavy, large Disney storybook collections. These books are quite bulky, and I was thrilled to see that they are easily accommodated by the Tidy Books Storage Box.
Sophie and Xander love their new Tidy Books Storage Box, too! We actually use this the most during trips to Grandma's house. It's so simple to load it up with favorite books, pop it in the trunk and go! I like to think of this product as our portable library!
One of the things I appreciate most is that like with all Tidy Books products, this box is designed to allow kids easy access to their books. The book covers face out, so a child can easily find the book they want. No digging through books or trying to read the spines necessary!
Clean-up is also a breeze with this box. It's easy for little hands to place books back into the generously sized slots. I don't know about you, but anything that makes cleaning easier for small kids gets some major brownie points with this mom!
Overall, we are over the moon for our Tidy Books Storage Box. It's so versatile, and the portability and ease of use really make it shine. I love being able to bring the joy of reading wherever we go...whether it be Grandma's house, a picnic at the park, or even a waiting room! I would absolutely recommend this product to any families out there who want to encourage their kids to love reading.
