Every summer, we like to spend a lot of time in my father-in-law's inground pool. My oldest son, Kyle, swims like a fish. As a matter of fact, he rarely leaves the water at all! Sophie and Xander, my toddlers, also love the water. Of course they can't swim on their own just yet, but they still like playing and splashing with family members. Water safety is super important, especially when dealing with babies and young children. Adult supervision is a must at all times. While extra caution must be taken when you bring your little ones into the water, you can still have a ton of fun by taking the proper safety precautions. You can purchase a wide variety of inflatable products to help keep little ones afloat, such as vests, floaties, and baby rafts. Not all of these products are created equal, though, as I'm sure every parent has noticed. One of my favorite swim accessories for my toddlers is the SWIMTRAINER "Classic" from FREDS SWIM ACADEMY. The three stage learning system gives your child a high level of security creating positive experiences in the water. The SWIMTRAINER "Classic" provides an ideal swimming position in the water and helps your baby learn how to move his legs and arms correctly. The adjustable belt and 5 air chambers help prevent slip through. The SWIMTRAINER "Classic" is made of PVC and is phthalate free. It is not to be used for jumping into water or in shallow water. Constant supervision is required. Stay within arms reach when your baby is using the SWIMTRAINER "Classic." The Swimtrainer comes in 3 different sizes to accommodate babies and children of different sizes and ages. Here is a breakdown of these products: SWIMTRAINER "Classic" Red
One the Swimtrainer is out of the box, it needs to be inflated. This is a very quick and easy process, and it can be inflated with an air pump or by mouth. My husband blew it up in less than a minute. At first, I was a little worried about how this device would help keep my babies safely afloat. My husband quickly showed me the instruction book, and my fears were immediately laid to rest. The Swimtrainer harnesses baby by going over the shoulders and then securely clips in the back. There is really no danger of baby slipping out or going underwater, as this device fits perfectly and is very snug. There's no way that baby could wiggle out of it, even if they tried! Take a look at Xander, my 17 month old, in the Swimtrainer! Once we were absolutely sure we had him placed into the Swimtrainer properly, it was time for fun! Xander loved being able to float around and freely kick his legs. He seemed to make a frog-like motion with his legs and feet, and this had him squealing with delight as it propelled him forward. We stayed nearby at all times, so he could explore the water with confidence! Doesn't this product look great! I know that photos can only do so much, so I have taken some video of Xander playing in the pool using his Swimtrainer Classic! Notice he kicks his legs and also enjoys being scooted around by his big brother. He was all smiles, laughs and squeals as he had his first "independent" experience in the pool! He was even able to try and splash his brother and sister back! Overall, we love the Swimtrainer "Classic" from Fred's Swim Academy. This unique floatation device keeps baby securely above water, but it also positions them in a way to naturally learn the proper leg movements needed to swim! It allows baby to get comfortable in the water while having fun with the entire family. None of the other infant floats I have used have been so secure, nor have they actually encouraged early swimming the way the Swimtrainer does. I can't wait to try out the orange and yellow models as my babies grow! With the Swimtrainer, my toddlers gain confidence as they learn to swim!
