![]() As the proud mama of two active toddlers, I am always amazed by how quickly my babies learn new things. It seems only yesterday that my little ones were tiny little newborns, unable to walk, talk or do much of anything other than eat, sleep, cry and poop. But even then, they were learning, growing, and taking everything in. Now my babies are walking, laughing, playing and even talking. It's absolutely astonishing how far they have come in just a short time! My daughter Sophia is 2 years old, and she is one smart cookie. She knows most of her ABC's, can count to 10, and can even recognize lots of shapes, animals, and colors. Xander is only 1, so he's not quite as advanced as his big sister, but he is catching on quickly! I think that during the infant and toddler stages, learning is so important. During the first few years of life, a child's capacity for knowledge is immense. They have even proven that it is easier for a very young child to learn a new language than it is for adults! Their little minds crave knowledge, and this early learning helps not only with school readiness, but also with a child's self-esteem. The key is finding educational materials that allow a child to take in new information in a fun, stimulating way, as well as one that allows them to interact. I first discovered The Brainy Company while visiting a few of my favorite blogs. I was immediately impressed with their vast selection of early learning tools geared towards babies and preschool aged kids. The Brainy Company seems to have it all, from books and flash cards to wooden toys, DVD's and music. They even have products and resources for parents! As a matter of fact, The Brainy Company has wonderful, educational gifts for every member of the family! The thing I like the most about this company, particularly their Brainy Baby products, is that they use a much different approach in teaching young children than their competitors. To differentiate Brainy Baby products in the marketplace, their highly specialized product development teams bring the learning experience to life by uniting three key elements: 1. A rigorous, proven learning methodology 2. Compelling, multi-layered content 3. Intuitive, engaging delivery of the content and learning experience This approach to early learning is not only highly effective, it makes the entire process fun for little ones. I know from experience that when a young child enjoys learning, they actually retain the knowledge better and learn new skills far more quickly. The awesome folks at The Brainy Company sent me their Baby's First Impressions Video Encyclopedia for my review. This set includes all 10 DVD's from the award-winning First Impressions series and comes in a sturdy and attractive case to keep the set together when not in use. The titles included are: Shapes, Colors, Letters, Numbers, Opposites, Animals, Sounds, Seasons, Head To Toe and Food Fun. There are even DVD extras that feature sneak peeks, chapter selection, and even fun games and activities! Take a look! When my Baby's First Impressions Video Encyclopedia arrived, I couldn't wait to try these wonderful DVD's with my toddlers. They both love educational DVD's and have been watching a very popular reading program since birth, with much success. I was thrilled to be able to add more subjects to their educational DVD collection! Sure, reading is important, but so is color and shape recognition, ABC's and 123's, and all of the other great topics covered in the Video Encyclopedia set! I think the one I was most excited about was the Food Fun, as I am a major "foodie" myself! The first DVD I popped into the Blu-Ray player was the Shapes DVD. I was immediately impressed with the melodic theme music, since it captured (and kept) both babies' attention right away. I also love the fact that this series includes footage of real babies and toddlers. I have noticed that small children love nothing more than seeing other kids' smiling faces. This seems to make the whole learning process more fun for them! Another great thing about these DVD's is that each element is approached in a variety of different ways. For example, a circle is shown in many different colors and forms. Basic shapes are used, as well as finding the circle within familiar objects. Probing questions are also used to help baby reason and find answers themselves, such as "Can you find the circle shape inside the Pinwheel?" Take a look at my toddlers watching the Baby's First Impressions DVD's: ![]() Overall, I am very impressed by the Baby's First Impressions Video Encyclopedia. The DVD's are fun, engaging, and offer a wealth of knowledge for curious little minds. I love the way these video encyclopedia volumes approach learning in a multitude of different ways, making them stimulating and very attention-grabbing. Most babies and toddlers don't have the greatest of attention spans, but these DVD's got and kept my children's attention from start to finish due to the ever changing colors, themes, and applications used to teach basic skills. These volumes are anything but boring, and are sure to please even the youngest of babies with great music, easy-to-process dialogue, and fun, vibrant colors. My toddlers actually try and "talk" back to the TV when these videos are on, especially my 2 year old daughter! I would definitely recommend the Baby's First Impressions Video Encyclopedia to anyone with a special child in their life. My kids both adore this series, and are even demonstrating the understanding of the variety of skills being taught. My daughter is able to identify colors, shapes, letters, and numbers so much more fluently than she could before. Even my 1 year old is completely captivated by this series and sits frozen, staring at the screen as his mind absorbs everything being taught! This would make a fantastic addition to a preschool curriculum, and is also wonderful for in-home use. This series is fast-paced, engaging, and definitely quite comprehensive in each of the 10 subjects. What better way to start young minds on the path for a lifetime love of learning? The folks at The Brainy Company have definitely gotten a loyal customer out of me. I plan on buying more of their amazing products for my kids as their educational needs grow and change. That was a cute story of yours. I am so glad that you will be having a family you have ever dreamt of. I was also having a similar case for you. I was unable to bear a child easily because of my operation when I was 16 years old. I have been operated due to myoma and it became the reason on why it is hard now. I even started having a family late, so it is an additional reason on why it is hard. Hopefully, I wish to have one this year.
