Starring, in voice performance, Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley, Isaac Hempstead Wright (Game of Thrones), and Elle Fanning (Maleficent), the new movie from animation studio LAIKA, the makers of the Academy Award®-nominated Coraline and ParaNorman, comes to Blu-ray™ 3D and Blu-ray™ Combo Pack including Blu-ray, DVD & DIGITAL HD with UltraViolet on January 20, 2015 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. Check out this official trailer to see just a little Boxtrolls awesomeness: We recently received an advance copy Blu-ray, and I have to admit, the whole family was excited to see this film. It really has something for everyone. Loads of action for the adventure lovers, and insane amounts of cheese for foodies like me. Seriously, I am addicted to cheese, so the fact that my favorite, melty food plays a pretty major part in this movie got some brownie points from me. Cheesy? Perhaps. But that's just how I roll. In all seriousness, though, "The Boxtrolls" is a feel-good movie for the entire family. Kids and adults of all ages will find themselves sucked into the magical world of the Boxtrolls, and will be sad to see this story end. It's really that much fun!
We loved the story, and the heartwarming message it contains. I don't want to give any spoilers, but there is a strong theme of love, togetherness, and the real meaning of family. While this is definitely a feel-good film, it's also got a lot of humor that even the adults can appreciate. I have to admit, I was pretty skeptical of this movie at first. Our littles weren't big fans of Coraline or Paranorman, so when they begged to see it in the theatre, I was afraid they would be disappointed. We were very pleasantly surprised by just how good it was, though! The storyline is great and the trolls are adorable. I look forward to owning it and seeing it again on DVD. Thanks for sharing your review and reminding us that it comes out soon. :)
