With 2 toddlers only 12 months apart in age, babywearing has become the norm in my household. It seems that my baby carriers have become a natural extension of my own body at times, as they allow me to be close and comforting to my children while keeping my hands free to do other things, such as dishes or vacuuming. As a busy, multi-tasking mama, I need to be able to get things done, and babywearing definitely helps accomplish this! Another time babywearing comes in ridiculously handy is while shopping or running other errands. I don't have a double-stroller that can fit through a standard doorway, so I generally put Sophie in a shopping cart or stroller while I wear Xander. This is really the only way I can attempt to venture out into the world, since I can't push a shopping cart and a stroller single-handedly. Hey, I never claimed to be Super Mom! There are so many benefits to babywearing for both parent and baby, that my husband has developed a love for it, too! Especially when it comes to our 2 year old, Sophie. She is a complete Daddy's Girl and isn't happy unless she's near him. Rather than carry her around all the time in his arms, which can be quite tiring, my husband has turned to baby carriers. At first, he was a bit bashful about it. He didn't think babywearing was a macho thing to do. But that all changed one day while we were at the store, and he had Sophie in one of our soft-structured carriers. He felt awkward and embarrassed and thought everyone was staring at him. Then an older couple came up to us, cooed at the babies, and told my husband, "You're such a good father. Real men wear babies!" True story! Since that incident, my husband's confidence in babywearing has greatly improved. He wears the babies just as much as I do now! I have to admit, there's something strangely sexy about seeing a man babywearing. Unlike previous generations, fathers are now permitted to bond with their babies much like a mother would. This is so important for the child, since they need a strong, loving bond with both Mommy and Daddy. This makes for a happier, more secure child. I absolutely love seeing my husband love and care for our children, and it makes me appreciate him so much more. Have I mentioned I have the greatest husband in the whole wide world? Changing diapers, feeding, bathing, playing, and babywearing....I couldn't ask for anything more! Over the past two years, we have tried several different baby carrier options. Some we love, some...well, not so much. Not all baby carriers are created equal. Some carriers may look cute, but leave the wearer with horribly painful shoulders and an aching back. It has been my experience that if the parent is uncomfortable, baby will be, too. Babywearing is meant to be a positive experience for everyone involved. This is why choosing the best carrier is so crucial for babywearing success. That's why I was so excited to try the Boba 3G Baby Carrier. I have heard wonderful things about the Boba brand on some of my favorite blogs for quite some time, and I couldn't wait to see the Boba difference for myself. I chose the Boba 3G Baby Carrier in their fun yet gender neutral Tweet print. When it arrived, I was immediately impressed by the softness of the 100% cotton used in this carrier. I also adore the bright, vibrant colors. Hey, looks do matter. Especially when we're buying things for our children! The Boba 3G Baby Carrier comes in 4 beautiful patterns and 3 stunning solid color combinations, so you're sure to find one to fit any style. I was also pleasantly surprised by the quality of construction. The Boba is very well made, and has all the bells and whistles that are sure to make babywearing successful from birth all the way through the toddler years. The Boba is ideal for children from birth up to about 45lbs, and can fit parents of all sizes, from 5'-6'3". It can also easily accommodate most body types and will fit waists from 25"-58". Yes, this means you CAN wear the Boba while pregnant! Here is a list of the features that make the Boba a cut above the rest:
I also love the fact that the straps can be rolled up should there be any slack after adjusting. I have another carrier that does not feature this, and the straps are left hanging. The geniuses at Boba have combated this annoying issue by designing their straps to neatly roll up. Speaking of straps, the Boba 3G also has shoulder strap holders that come in very handy while out and about. These keep purses and diaper bags from slipping and sliding around. How cool is that?! Other things I really love about the Boba 3G Baby Carrier include the removable foot-straps for baby, the multiple pockets that can hold car-keys and other essentials, and the fact that it has a sleeping hood that can be tucked and zipped away when not in use. My daughter doesn't like the foot-straps at the moment, but I can see them coming in very handy in the future! I also love that the Boba can be used for both front and back carrying. I am not brave enough to do the back-carry, but my husband enjoys this with our daughter when we're at the park. Please note: The Boba carrier is NOT designed for baby-facing-out carrying. I actually appreciate this, as I happen to feel that this position isn't entirely safe or comfortable for baby. Of course, that's just my opinion, and I know plenty of baby-wearing moms that favor this. Take a look at my Babywearing Hubby with our daughter! How adorable is that?! Like I said, REAL men wear babies!
While I have 2 toddlers, the Boba 3G Carrier can also accommodate newborns and even adjusts for easy breastfeeding. This carrier can even hold twins, up to about 2 months of age. How convenient for mamas of multiples! My husband's cousin just had twins a couple of months ago, and I have already recommended this carrier to her. Obviously, I couldn't put newborn options to the test, as my kids are 1 and 2 years old and beyond the infant stage. While I couldn't personally test all of these features, I have been babywearing long enough to recognize something awesome when I see it! One thing I love as far as the Boba's infant features go is the fact that it can be converted to an infant carrier without the need for an extra insert. I wish I had known this when my babies were smaller. I used another brand while they were small, and I had to purchase an infant insert for this carrier. Not only was this an added expense I didn't need, it was also something else I had to then keep track of. I love that the Boba is all-in-one! Overall, I am in love with my Boba 3G Baby Carrier. This is definitely one of the better, if not the best, carrier I have used. It is super-comfortable for Mommy and Daddy, and I love the way it hugs my babies. They seem to really like it, too! I also love all of the extras like pockets, straps that roll-up, and the fact that it is so incredibly adjustable to accommodate parents of all shapes and sizes. I have gotten a ton of use out of my Boba, and I don't see us slowing down any. With such convenience, comfort, and good looks, can you blame me? I would definitely recommend the Boba 3G Baby Carrier to any parent who wants to give their child the best bonding experience. The Boba is easy to use and is wonderful for babywearing beginners and seasoned pros alike! HOW TO CONNECT: To check out the awesomeness that is Boba, check out their website.
