***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my review. No other compensation was provided. All opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.*** You know those Moms that seem to be craftier than Martha Stewart? You know...The ones who can make ingenious, beautiful craft projects in a matter of minutes, and post them all to Pinterest for the world to enjoy? Yeah. I am SO not one of those Moms. I wish I were, but it seems in the crafting department, I somehow missed the memo. (Or all of the memos, for that matter!) I cannot make blankets or wind-chimes or tutus or barrettes...Honestly, I am pretty darn hopeless. Perhaps I should take some crafting classes in the near future. Of course, while I might be horrifyingly inept at making cutesie little crafts, my kids all really love doing them. Being creative is so important for a child's development, so I encourage arts and crafts, even though I seem to stumble through even the simplest of projects. To make my life a bit easier and make my Mommy Fails less obvious to the kids, I tend to rely on kits with clear instructions rather than coming up with my own ideas. After all, they seem to think I am Super Mommy, and I don't want to burst their bubbles at such a young age. Recently, we got the opportunity to try out some pre-designed text-UR Foam craft kits from the folks at Creative Hands by Fibre-Craft. These kits are absolutely adorable, and feature colorful, textured foam. The fun part? These crafts layer to create a 3D effect that is visually stunning and fun for kids to create. There are plenty of fun, pre-designed kits like a buzzing bee, a friendly turtle and a chic flower photo frame. There are also kits that include just the text-UR Foam materials so you can come up with your very own project ideas. A house, perhaps? Maybe you'd like to create some colorful butterflies or fish? Halloween is coming, so a spooky witch or a pumpkin would be perfect, too! The possibilities really are endless! We received the following products to check out for ourselves:
The first kit we used was the Flower Frame Kit. Sophie absolutely insisted on this, being the girly-girl that she is. Inside the package are pre-cut pieces of text-UR Foam, as well as adhesive foam squares to stick the components together and create the 3D effect. The instructions are merely a diagram which can be found on the packaging. Since my little ones are still very little, they relied on my help to create the flower frame. They enjoyed helping me remove the paper backing from the adhesive squares, and even helped apply the petals and flower decals. Now I hate to admit it, but it took me awhile to figure out just how to assemble this craft. (Remember...I have the crafting ability of a baboon. Maybe even less!) Overall, this simple craft came together quite nicely, even with the "mommy handicap", and Sophie absolutely loves it! After the Flower Frame was completed, Xander wanted to help make the Turtle. This one was a little bit easier for me to figure out, probably because I already got the concept while creating Sophie's flower frame. Sophie and Xander helped make this cute little guy, and they had a great time telling me which pieces they needed next. They really didn't need very much assistance, other than making sure the components were lined up properly on the head and shell. Xander adores his turtle, and has named him "Timmy". He is quite proud that he helped create this little guy, and has even asked that we keep it in his bedroom as a decoration. Overall, I really love these great text-UR Foam craft kids from Creative Hands by Fibre-Craft. They're very easy to complete, so they're wonderful for kids of all ages. Younger kids like mine may need a bit of adult supervision, but they can certainly help out a lot. I was surprised that I, the least crafty mom in the free world, was able to get these together with relative ease. I will definitely be checking out more of these kits, and maybe one day, I will even be able to come up with project ideas all my own. How to Connect : You can check out the awesomeness of text-UR Foam by Creative Hands/Fibre-Craft on their website. text-UR Foam product kits are available at Michaels, Joann’s, Meijer and A.C. Moore.
