![]() As the mom of 3 great kids, I am always looking for quality entertainment for them. Note: I did say quality. There are so many television shows and movies that promote messages and values that I do not necessarily want my children exposed to. Even cartoons nowadays are chock full of innuendo and other inappropriate material that I don't feel is acceptable for younger children to be exposed to. Yep, I am one of those "strict moms". Even my 11 year old 6th grader isn't allowed to watch certain programs that are specifically marketed towards kids his age, and I also don't allow him to play violent video games. Some may feel I am being TOO overprotective and too restrictive, but it is my job as a mother to make sure my kids grow to be kind, courteous, and decent adults. I just don't feel that exposure to too much too soon helps achieve that goal. No, you can't protect your kids from everything out there, but overall values begin at home. I just don't think that sarcasm, bad attitudes, materialism, fame-seeking behavior, and killing zombies, soldiers, etc. are values my children need to be learning. That's why I was so excited to learn about the itty bitty HeartBeats. The itty bitty HeartBeats are an award winning, web-based animated series geared towards children between the ages of 2-6. The itty bitty HeartBeats take kids on a series of musical adventures that keep them engaged, but they also help teach valuable life lessons and positive living. Each episode opens with a live-action situation, in which a real-life child faces a challenge. The series deals with issues such as sibling rivalry, stage fright, using good manners, and first day of school fears. The animated story in HeartLand parallels the challenge that the live-action boy or girl is facing. The itty bitty Heartbeats™ empower the child to make a positive choice from his/her heart. By seeing how the itty bitty Heartbeats™ solve their problems, the children in the real world learn to solve their own problems and learn “from the heart.” itty bitty Heartbeats™ is a Kids First Award Recipient. Some of the focuses of the itty bitty HeartBeats are:
![]() I received a variety of itty bitty HeartBeats materials to share with my children. Included was a great, multiple episode DVD, 2 itty bitty HeartBeats dolls, a great board book, a coloring book with jumbo crayons, and even some fun stickers! When my package arrived, I immediately popped the DVD in for my kids. My toddler, Sophie, went absolutely nuts as soon as the theme music started, and she sat intently throughout the entire DVD, laughing, squealing, and talking to the fun characters. Her favorite character seems to be SweetHeart, although she also seemed to enjoy KookyHeart and GiggleHeart! The entire cast of characters are cute, lovable, and have charming and very different personalities. The stories are also fun, fast paced, and help teach kids valuable life lessons. I love the itty bitty HeartBeats, and am happy to allow my kids to watch these shows! Take a look at Sophie enjoying the itty bitty HeartBeats! And finally, here is some video of Sophie watching the itty bitty HeartBeats DVD. It's funny..She was so busy twirling around, she almost landed on her baby brother! Oops! But as you can see, she was totally engrossed in this, and even ignored me because she was watching so intently! That's always a good sign! Overall, I would definitely recommend the itty bitty HeartBeats to any families with young children. The stories are all positive in nature, the characters are colorful and lovable, and the music is definitely infectious! I have even gotten the Boogie Woogie Dance stuck in my head on more than one occasion! If you're looking for quality entertainment for your kids without having to second guess the content and the message being sent, then the itty bitty HeartBeats is definitely for you. I love this web-based series, and so do my babies. Check them out! I think you'll be just as enamored as we are! FOR MORE INFO: The entire series is available to be watched online at the itty bitty HeartBeats™ website. You can also follow the itty bitty HeartBeats on their Facebook Fan Page! I love that one of the people who make this composed the theme song to inspector gadget. That's a very catchy tune and makes me have confidence that my daughter would just fall in love with this.
