Taking The Day Off To Hug My Children

I had planned several awesome posts for today....And then I turned on the news. And my heart sank, my stomach got sick, and the tears started falling. A crazed gunman has killed 20 innocent children and several adults, including his parents, in Newtown, CT, and I simply cannot wrap my head around it.

My heart is breaking for the lives lost and the families affected by this senseless act of unspeakable violence, and I cannot even begin to imagine the pain these parents and children are going through. Children should be safe at school, and no parent should ever receive the news that their babies...these were babies...would not be returning home. I am at an absolute loss, and I just can't stop crying. This is so incredibly tragic.

So today, rather than work, I will be holding my own children a bit tighter, enjoying their smiles and laughter, and thanking God for these little miracles I have been blessed with. I do not take this gift for granted. If you're the praying type, please keep these families and this community in your prayers.
